RealTime Racing Acuras Look To Continue Surge at Mid-Ohio

• Acura NSX returns to venue where it made its on-track debut in 2016
• RealTime Racing Acuras own Manufacturers’ Championship points in five of last six starts
• Ryan Eversley into top-10 in points with recent string of strong results

LEXINGTON, Ohio (July 26, 2017) – The Acura NSX GT3 Pirelli World Challenge cars are starting to hit their stride after some early-season wobbles, and head to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend looking to stretch their legs in front of Acura’s hometown fans.

The RealTime Racing Acuras will perform in front of thousands of Honda associates at this weekend’s Mid-Ohio event, which takes place less than 90 minutes from the Performance Manufacturing Center where the NSXs are built.

“For Acura and the NSX, this is a very important weekend in front of the ‘home’ crowd. The very engines and space frames we are racing this weekend were built just a short drive away [in Marysville, OH],” said Senior Program Engineer Lee Niffenegger of Honda Performance Development. “The extra motivation of the home race should help us continue the momentum that is starting to build for the NSX GT3 in World Challenge.”

The team rolls into Mid-Ohio looking to extend a solid mid-season run that has featured three top-five finishes in the past four events. Acura has scored Manufacturers’ Championship points in five of the last six races, and the driver duo of Ryan Eversley and Peter Kox has climbed to 10th and 11th, respectively, in the season standings.

For Kox, this weekend marks a return to the site where he debuted the highly-anticipated Acura NSX GT3 a year ago. The Dutch driver ran the car during a test session and was slated to run on track with the GT cars a year ago before rains wiped out the scheduled session.

“[At] This time last year, I had the honor of giving the Acura NSX GT3 car its world debut in Honda’s back yard!” recalled Kox. “I am more than thrilled that I will be able to race this car in front of many Honda associates, and show the potential we’ve already gotten out of it, and get stronger as the season evolves.”

Eversley did not share Kox’s misfortune a year ago at the 2.238-mile Lexington layout. The Georgia-born driver parlayed two blistering starts into second- and fifth-place finishes at Mid-Ohio, and is looking forward to similar success this year.

“Last year, we had a great weekend at Mid-Ohio. We publicly debuted the NSX GT3 and I was able to get our TLX on the podium in Race 2,” Eversley said. “We know we’ll be supported by thousands of Honda and Acura associates and their families from nearby Marysville, so I’m hopeful we can get on the podium again and give them something to celebrate.”
