BACK-2-BACK DAYTONA WINS FOR FORD PERFORMANCE

DAYTONA, Fla., July 2, 2017 – Ricky Stenhouse Jr., driver of the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion won his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero 400 at Daytona and second race of the season.

“We have been working hard at Roush Fenway and this pushes us further along,” noted Stenhouse Jr. “This Ford Performance team has been amazing. Ford has been dominant. Roush Yates Engines and Doug Yates.”

The legendary horsepower of the Ford FR9 EFI V8 engine by Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines, powered the No. 17 to victory lane. This was the 6th consecutive restrictor plate race win for Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines.

“Ricky did an incredible piece of driving!” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “Congratulations to Ricky, Jack and Roush Fenway Racing. To stand in victory lane at Daytona International Speedway is a remarkable feeling. We are blessed and happy to be part of this amazing Ford Performance team.”

Team Ford dominated the 400-mile Coke Zero 400 overtime event, leading 78 out of 163 laps. Roush Yates Engines and Ford Performance have demonstrated power, performance, and reliability by sweeping 2017 restrictor-plate races. This horsepower of a partnership has won 15 of the last 27 MENCS events between Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

“We have a lot of pride in our Super Speedway powertrain package,” noted Jamie McNaughton, Technical Director at Roush Yates Engines. “It is a very refined engine and we continually conduct R&D to improve the performance of this package to support the key superspeedway races throughout the season.”

After a night of aggressive racing and reaching speeds of over 195 mph the Ford FR9 engine performed perfectly to power the Ford Fusions to a 1-2 sweep for the second week in a row with Clint Bowyer, finishing second at both events.

“Those Roush Yates engines are phenomenal,” commented Bowyer after the race. “Doug does such a great job, puts a lot of emphasis on this plate stuff, takes a lot of pride in it, and he should. Those things run amazing. They take a beating out there. I’m just proud to have that Roush Yates power under our hood.”

This win made a clean sweep of the 2017 Daytona events for Ford Performance, with the landmark Daytona 500 win by Kurt Busch of Stewart-Haas Racing in February.
