PIKES PEAK, Colo. (June 23, 2017) – Acura entries posted top qualifying times for the 95th running of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this weekend. The TLX GT, driven by long-time Acura race car driver Peter Cunningham in his Pikes Peak debut, clinched the top qualifying spot in the Pikes Peak Open Class yesterday with a time of 3:57.463, recording the second fastest qualifying time overall. The 2018 Acura TLX A-Spec, making its racing debut, secured the top qualifying spot in the Exhibition Class with a time of 4:23.734, while the production-based NSX with GT3-inspired modifications secured a second-place qualifying time of 4:04.731 in the Time Attack 1 class and recorded the sixth fastest qualifying time overall.

“Our strong run in qualifying today in the No. 42 Acura TLX GT was the culmination of hard work and great preparation by RealTime Racing and HPD,” said Cunningham. “And it was great to see [brothers] James and Nick Robinson turn in great results as well, so I think it’s fair to say that the three of us Acura drivers are looking forward to race day this Sunday!”
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the performance and speed we were able to get today from the No.902 Acura NSX,” said James Robinson. “Thanks to the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive technology, we were able to remain competitive against a very deep field of highly modified race cars in the Time Attack 1. We’re definitely looking forward to race day and to a strong result for Acura!”
“Thanks to the work from our Research and Development groups, we were able build a brand new 2018 Acura TLX A-Spec race car that has an encouraging level of competitiveness,” Nick Robinson reported. “I’m very excited to have the opportunity to showcase the new TLX A-Spec and it’s fantastic for Acura to have both the TLX A-Spec and the TLX GT both in the top qualifying positions”
This is the sixth consecutive year that Acura will race vehicles in the Pikes Peak event. The race to the 14,115-foot summit will take place on Sunday, June 25th.
