JASON LINE, SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT KB RACING CHEVROLET CAMARO SS, NO. 1 QUALIFIER AFTER TWO SESSIONS FOR THE AAA AUTO CLUB FINALS, POMONA CALIFORNIA. LINE CAME INTO EVENT AS THE POINTS LEADER OVER TEAMMATE GREG ANDERSON. ANDERSON IS NO. 2 AFTER SECOND ROUND.

LINE MET WITH THE MEDIA FOLLOWING QUALIFYING:

ARE WE GOING TO SEE THIS POINTS BATTLE BETWEEN YOU AND GREG GO BACK AND FORTH THIS WEEKEND? “I’m guessing it will, and it will be fun to watch. It will probably go back and forth between Greg and me and it will be very entertaining to watch for sure.
“It was a nice run, it could have been better. There is a little left.”

ON FUN OF BEING IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE WITH HIS TEAMMATE:
“I think it was fun for me in this round and more fun for Greg in Round 1. It’s fun, but at the same time both of us want to win it. It is nerve wracking for sure. We have both been in this spot before so hopefully that helps us to keep it in perspective.”

IS THERE AN EXCITEMENT IN KNOWIHNG THAT ALL THIS IS HAPPENING AND YOU ARE JUST DOING YOUR JOB: “There is an excitement, but I am a boring guy and I would just like to have a 95 point lead right now. There is definitely some excitement; there is no doubt about it.”

ON DIFFERENCE BETWWEN FIRST ROUND AND SECOND ROUND RUNS? “Two hundredths. It was a little lazy on the first run in low gear. It was spinning a fair amount down track and I didn’t do the greatest job of shifting. We got after it in low gear and it made a better run out there. You have to make it up there.

“I did not (do a great job shifting in second run) and it was doing a fair amount of spinning down there. I shorted it a little bit in first and second gear. There is a little bit left I think. The race track will get better I think throughout the weekend and you will see Greg, myself and Bo Butner go faster. Shane (Gray), Drew (Skillman) and Alex (Laughlin) are capable of running as fast or fast that we are.”

ON POINTS BATTLE: ‘We did get three points and Greg got none that second round. But he got two on me the round before, so I think it is going to go back and forth. It would to be really cool for me if going into Sunday it is a 21 point read, but I don’t think that is going to happen. It makes it fun to watch. It might be tougher for him and himself; it is going to be tight.

“We had a decent day and I think that is the way it is going to be throughout the weekend.”
