Scelzi Excited for Double Duty This Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2016) – Dominic Scelzi loves racing at Stockton Dirt Track.

Scelzi recorded his first career King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series triumph at the oval in Stockton, Calif., in 2013. He returned to Victory Lane at the track last year and he also has a podium finish there during 360ci competition.

“With the race track the way it was before it was a big 3/8 mile,” he said. “It had half-mile speed, but tighter corners. It seemed like it was slick and wide most of the time. It was the most similar place to tracks in the Midwest. I had a comfort there more than any other place. Now that they’ve redone the track it’s something nobody has been on. It will be a lot bigger and faster. I’m hoping some of the schooling we got this summer in the Midwest helps us.”

Scelzi is heading to the recently redesigned oval this Saturday for the 33rd annual Tribute to Gary Patterson. He will drive for the Van Lare Family during the King of the West portion and for Nick McColloch during the Civil War Sprint Car Series action.

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity on Saturday,” Scelzi said. “It’s one of my favorite tracks and I think we can produce a pair of good results and potentially a win or two.”

Scelzi charged from 18th to eighth during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event at the track in the spring. Not only was that the best World of Outlaws result of his career at the time, it also earned him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
