DALLAS WIN VITAL FOR TEAM SUMMIT RACING’S
NHRA CHAMPIONSHIP BID

Mooresville, NC (October 11, 2016) – Team Summit Racing hopes to move a step closer to winning the 2016 NHRA Pro Stock Championship this weekend at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at the Texas Motorplex in Dallas.

Only three races remain in the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Jason Line is currently first in Pro Stock points with teammate Greg Anderson close behind in second.

“There’s a lot of racing left. I’m not going to count my chickens before they’ve hatched,” Line said. “There are a lot of things that can happen in the next month. It would be great to win Sunday in Dallas—it would mean I earned more points than anybody else that day.”

Line has won twice in Dallas and Anderson has won four times. Anderson also currently holds the Texas Motorplex track records in Pro Stock for elapsed time (6.457 seconds) and speed (214.59 MPH), which he set at 2015’s event.

“The number one thing with me is we earn more points than our competition this weekend. That’s what we need to get done and extend our points lead,” Anderson said. “We’ve got 3 races to go; that’s 12 rounds of racing. We’re testing this week so we can get everything refined and can show up in Dallas with a performance edge.”

One question Line and Anderson have constantly been asked this season: what does it mean having your Summit Racing teammate as your closest competition for the NHRA Championship?

“If it was just Greg, that would be really, really good. It would be great. But we’re racing other people as well and they are close in points,” Line said.

“So far we are still one and two. That is absolutely the best scenario for us to finish,” Anderson said. “I want to be number one, he wants to be number one. That’s what we’re going to fight for. If we end up one and two, we will be able to live with that just fine.”

Team Summit Nitro Funny Car driver Tim Wilkerson is also a past winner at the Texas Motorplex. Wilkerson is the only independent driver in the hunt for the 2016 NHRA Championship. He is currently seventh in the points standings and it looking to climb even higher during the next three races.

“I think our high points ranking is a tribute to my team and the work they put in day-in and day-out,” Wilkerson said. “It shows the quality of the work and the quantity of time they put in. I’m optimistic we can finish out the season in an even higher spot.”
