ROUSH FENWAY RACING MOVES ON TO ROUND OF 8!

CHARLOTTE, N.C., October 10, 2016 – Joey Logano and Team Penske captured the NASCAR Xfinity win at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As the exclusive Ford Performance engine builder for NASCAR, Roush Yates Engines in partnership with Ford Performance designed, tested and built the Ford FR9 V8 winning engine that powered the No. 12 Ford Mustang to victory lane in the NASCAR Xfinity Series BCBS NC Race for the Cure 300.

Logano, driver No. 12 of Team Penske made an incredible surge to take the lead with only 12 laps to go, after going three wide on the final restart. Logano was able to pull away from Kyle Larson to take the checkered flag.

“We stayed on the lead lap on that long run and the pit crew did their job by keeping us in position to make an awesome restart at the end,” said Joey Logano. “It was kind of an all-or-nothing move and to be able to get the lead and ultimately hold them off to get the checkered flag.”

This was Logano’s second Xfinity win for Team Penske and Ford Performance this season.

To round out the race, No. 22 Brad Keselowski of Team Penske finished 9th, the Roush Fenway Racing teammates of No. 16 Ryan Reed finished 15th and No. 6 Darrell Wallace Jr. finished 20th.

The Xfinity Chase is heating up as well, with two Roush Fenway Racing cars in the mix, No. 6 of Wallace Jr. and No. 16 of Reed advancing to The Round of 8 and move on to Kansas.

“We had our work cut out for us this weekend with the rain delays and rescheduled races,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “I’m so proud of the team, they kept digging throughout the race and were able to bring home a win at our hometown track in Charlotte. A special congratulations to Jack (Roush) and Roush Fenway Racing for advancing in the Chase.”
