“I feel like the fans had to have loved that race. It was interesting to have another lane down at the bottom of the track and it ended up being a race on those last two restarts. At the end of the race, I listened to the advice of my grandfather on what lane to choose to restart and I’m glad I did. It really worked out. The more and more I learn about these races it’s a battle of attrition and it’s about who can survive. I’m proud of Justin Alexander. This is his first win as a crew chief in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and this is our first win together in our first race together so it’s a great way to start.”

“Man, right when you thought they couldn’t make Bristol any faster, they did. We were flying around this track tonight. We took the lead late and then lost it briefly. I tried to run them down, but got caught up in the 22 and 18 car wrecking each other. It sucks, but I was racing for the win. We were again so close to winning tonight, but just had some bad luck. I want to thank Bass Pro Shops and NRA Museums for being on the car this weekend.”

Brandon Jones earns ninth top-10 finish of 2016 after running out of fuel late at Bristol

“I think we were definitely right there in contention to win. Fourth-place was the hot seat and where you wanted to be. I was definitely going to try and do something lined up on the outside there, whether it was wreckers or bouncing off each other three-wide trying to make something happen for the win. All-in-all an awesome job for the Nexteer Automotive team. These guys have been getting better and better all year long. I think that really showed tonight with where we ended up and how we ran the entire day – how we qualified, how we ran and where we finished. This gives us some momentum heading into the Chase for sure. We have to get through Road America next week – just stay on track and survive there like we have with all the road courses. Then we’ll go at it on these mile-and-a-halves.”

Brendan Gaughan and the South Point Chevrolet Team Utilize Strategy to Battle to a Top-five Finish at Bristol Motor Speedway

“The South Point Chevrolet wasn’t a fifth place car when we unloaded. This top-five goes to the team. We kept digging on the restarts. Couple that with great strategy and hard work by crew chief Shane Wilson and the team and that helped us bring a 15th-place car to fifth. We earned the lucky dog and rolled the dice to stay out. Cautions breed cautions, and we got the breaks we needed to move toward the front. The deciding moment of the race was when the call was made to stay out. The fuel strategy that Shane Wilson devised kept us out of trouble. I’m ready to take this momentum and move on to Road America next week to contend for the win.”
