Greg Anderson qualified second with a 6.567 second, 210.14 MPH pass. Anderson automatically won Round One of eliminations as opponent Alan Prusiensky was pushed off the starting line. Anderson defeated Vincent Nobile in Round Two (6.571/210.64 to 6.616/210.57) and Shane Gray in the semi-finals. (6.620/210.01 to 6.651/210.24).

Anderson faced off against KB Racing teammate Bo Butner in the final. Butner had a .016 second starting line advantage, but Anderson powered past him to take the win, 6.580/210.24 to 6.622/210.70.

“This track has been magical for KB Racing,” Anderson said. “A great race track, great weather conditions and a full grandstand— it’s everything a Pro Stock racer wants. We left Denver and said we need to go to Sonoma and start a new streak and we did that. The class absolutely has closed the performance gap on us so it’s going to be a dogfight the rest of the year.”

Anderson remains second in the Pro Stock points standings.

JASON LINE Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro SS
Jason qualified eighth with a 6.594/209.62 run. He faced Drew Skillman in Round One of eliminations; despite Line’s quicker elapsed time, Skillman’s .023 second holeshot was enough to win the round with a 6.606/209.46 to Line’s 6.593/210.70.

“I’ve had better weekends, but you’ll have that sometimes,” said Line. “I’ve learned a few things, and we managed to put two KB Racing cars in the final round, so it was still a really great weekend for all of us.”

Jason remains Number One in the Pro Stock points standings.

TIM WILKERSON Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car
Tim Wilkerson debuted a brand new race car the team put together the Thursday before the race. He qualified seventh with a 3.902/325.77 run. Wilkerson got a .038 second jump on Chad Head in Round One of eliminations and was in the lead until the tires lost traction. Head took the win with a 4.011/325.14 to Wilkerson’s 4.221/249.90.

“It was a spectacular effort by everyone on the team,” Wilkerson said. “I just got greedy in that first round—I really didn’t think the car would do that. “Most everybody ran low 3.90’s, and I figured I could go out there and run that quick too. But I think sitting there so long, that track got hot and it went up about seven or eight degrees. That’s what got me.”

Wilkerson is currently ninth in the Funny Car points standings.

Doug Kalitta qualified third (3.711/324.28). He defeated Bill Litton and Brittany Force in the first two rounds of eliminations, but lost to teammate J.R. Todd in the semi-finals. Kalitta is currently second in the points standings.

J.R. Todd qualified seventh (3.731/324.05). He defeated Clay Millican, Antron Brown and Doug Kalitta to reach the final round, where he defeated Richie Crampton to win his first race of the season. Todd is currently sixth in the points standings.
