WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 27, 2016) – Olsbergs MSE, with drivers Joni Wiman and Sebastian Eriksson, looks to capitalize on the performance displayed by the brand new Honda Civics at the Marine Corps Air Station New River doubleheader weekend as the Red Bull Global Rallycross Series competes on the grounds of RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., July 30.

After delivering the manufacturer’s first heat victories in New River, N.C., Eriksson will look to build upon his three third place finishes in the 2016 season with his teammate Wiman in D.C. This will mark the third consecutive year that Red Bull GRC hosts a championship event at RFK Stadium and debut another new layout.

At .899 miles in length, the 10-turn circuit will snake under the DC Metro and run alongside the Anacostia River. The 74.6 percent pavement/ 25.4 percent dirt course lays atop a street circuit which previously hosted a sports car event in 2002. The Joker Lap is located on the inside of turn seven, just before the signature 70-foot table top dirt jump.

“I’m excited for the expanded circuit,” said Eriksson, driver of the No. 93 Honda Red Bull OMSE Civic. “It really opens up the competition and makes for a fun weekend. We showed a lot of pace back in New River and getting a heat victory under our belt, so we have a lot of momentum heading into D.C.”

“I love coming to D.C.,” said Wiman, driver of the No. 31 Honda Red Bull OMSE Civic. “It has become a staple every year to come to D.C. and race on a technical, primarily pavement circuit. The fans are great here, we had a big crowd last year and I think we’re going to put on a great show for them this weekend.”

Honda remains third in the Red Bull GRC manufacturers’ championship heading into Round Eight. Coverage of Saturday’s action can be seen on NBC and begins at 2:00 p.m. ET, with online coverage by Red Bull TV beginning at 2:30 p.m.
