TRICKY TRIANGLE TAKE-TWO
Bowtie Brigade Back at Pocono

DETROIT – (July 26, 2016) – Seven short weeks ago the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series raced around the unique three-turn, 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway. This weekend they are back in action at the track nicknamed the ‘Tricky Triangle’. During the series last visit to the picturesque Pennsylvania venue, Chevrolet’s Kurt Busch earned the brand their 32nd Pocono victory. As the circuit makes the journey back to the Pocono Mountains, the Bowtie Brigade is in search of more hardware.

Over the last four decades Pocono Raceway has been a staple on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. Chevrolet has been the most successful manufacturer to traverse the Tricky Triangle, taking home the victory over 41 percent of the time. A Team Chevy driver has rolled into Winner’s Circle at Pocono Raceway seven out of the last eight races, and looks to add to that tally this weekend.

From a technical perspective, Pocono Raceway, might be one of the most challenging tracks on the tour. The venue lays claim to three unique corners all fashioned after different tracks across the country. Turn 1 is modeled after the now defunct Trenton Speedway, Turn 2, also known as the ‘Tunnel Turn’, was created to mimic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Turn 3 is similar to the Milwaukee Mile. Each corner has unique and specific needs for handling. The long straightaways that connect the corners make braking and brake management a key in being successful.

The suite of tools the Chevrolet engineering staff provides to each of the Chevy SS team’s aides them in finding the right combinations of set-up, tire management and brake package in order to be successful at Pocono, which they have proven over the years.

Before 160 laps of racing begin, the entire field will be following a Chevrolet driver… the pace car driver, that is. The Chevrolet SS production car will serve as the official pace car for this weekend’s Pennsylvania 400. As the field lines up to take the green, they will all be staring at a Bowtie!
