PRO STOCK WINNER GREG ANDERSON, KB RACING, SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT CHEVROLET CAMARO SS:

EVERYONE SAYS THE COMPETITION IS CLOSING IN. HOW DO YOU KEEP GETTING IT DONE?

“We just flat out-raced them today. We didn’t out-power anybody, we didn’t outrun anybody. The pack has definitely tightened up and we are in for one hell of a battle the rest of the year. It will be fun. I had a good day today and got the job done.”

WHAT MAKES THIS TEAM TICK?

“(Crew chief) Rob Downing and our crew keeps getting the job done. They are right on the money and don’t make mistakes. It’s an honor to drive this Summit Chevy. We had the pressure put to us this weekend. Shane Gray was the No. 1 qualifier and all the other cars closed the gap on us. As I keep on saying, you have to execute on Sunday. We made good runs all day. (Teammate) Bo Butner whipped the toughest guy on the planet, Jason Line, and it was an honor to race him. KB Racing, Chevy all the way. More important than the numbers is the fun we’re having with this KB Racing group.”

TOP FUEL:
BRITTANY FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, MONSTER ENERGY CHEVROLET TOP FUEL DRAGSTER (No. 1 qualifier; fell in second round of eliminations): “It’s definitely disappointing to leave after such a strong weekend. Friday night No. 1 qualifier and had great runs all weekend with a track record. I ran a 3.69, which was just outstanding. I felt really confident about today and got past that first round, but we had a mishap and stumbled and didn’t past that second round. We have a weekend off and we’ll come back refreshed and ready to compete in Denver. I love the western swing. It’s close to home, three in a row, and I want to win.”

FUNNY CAR:
ROBERT HIGHT, JOHN FORCE RACING, AUTO CLUB CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 6 qualifier; fell in semifinals): “We had a great chance to get another win today with this 2016 Auto Club Chevrolet Camaro. We were just down on power on that semifinal run. We made the quickest run of the quarterfinals and we were trying to run as hard again. We have the performance to go rounds. I am glad we are moving up in the points and we could have jumped a couple more spots. We’ll get ready for the western swing and hopefully get some more wins on the West Coast. I have had success in Denver and this Auto Club team has never been more motivated.”

COURTNEY FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, TRAXXAS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 7 qualifier; fell in second round): “It was a great weekend for our team because we ran the new Chevy Camaro body. It was awesome because the first lap I took with this body on my car was in Q1 and from there on we had great runs all weekend long. Sitting behind the wheel and looking ahead out the window of this new Chevy Camaro body actually feels like sitting in my street car, my Chevy Camaro SS back home. It’s cool to be able to be in a race car like that. It feels like the real thing. We made five solid three-second passes in a row this weekend and I’m excited to run this body for the rest of the season. In the second round we got bit. It shook the tires really hard and I hung on to it hoping it would go through, but I lost vision and had to get out of it. We’ll learn from today, move onto the western swing and hope we can get started on the right foot when we get to Denver.”

JOHN FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, PEAK ADVCANCE AUTO PRATS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 13 qualifier; fell in first round of eliminations): “We’ll turn the corner. We found some issues. We are going to go to Indy and test. Courtney is doing fine. Brittany is doing fine. Robert is doing fine. My PEAK Camaro has some issues. We are going to investigate a few things that might still be bothering us from Topeka. We have time but we need to go rounds and that is where our focus is going to be.”

PRO STOCK:
BO BUTNER, BUTNER AUTO SALES, JIM BUTNER CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 2 qualifier; fell in final round of eliminations): “Qualifying has been great, but come race day I’ve struggled with being able to focus. Just thinking things out, maybe over-thinking things. Now I’ve been hopping in there and going back to my Sportsman days and try to hit the tree a little different. If it’s not working one way, then you have to try something else.”

SHANE GRAY, GRAY MOTORSPORTS, VALVOLINE/NOVA SERVICES CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 1 qualifier; fell in semifinals): “I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but I’d say we’ve caught up to (KB Racing) at this race. We’ll see where we’re at with that at a couple of races down the road. Hats off to everybody involved in Gray Motorsports. My dad (former racer Johnny Gray) has supported us for going on 10 years now. We couldn’t do this without him. We couldn’t do it without anybody I’ve got. We have a great core group of guys working on the car. Some of them have been with me for seven years now, so they’re all like family. We’re having fun out here. When you have fun, you do well, and we’re doing well, so look out.”

CHRIS MCGAHA, HARLOW SAMMONS RACING, HARLOW SAMMONS OF ODESSA CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 7 qualifier; fell in second round): “The weekend was great. We really needed that round win; it’s been a while since we had one. We missed a little bit in the second round but that’s OK. The eastern swing was really difficult and we’re at the top of Mt. Everest now and it’s going to start rolling from here. We’ll go back home and work on some manifold stuff. We need more. We’re just trying to make ourselves better and it’s easy to go the wrong way with it and that’s what happened the last few races but we’re right back in the thick of it with our Harlow Sammons Chevrolet Camaro.”
