BACK-TO-BACK WINS / FORD CHIP GANASSI RACING!

WATKINS GLEN, NY, July 5, 2016 – The Ford GT goes P1-2 at Watkins Glen and takes the third leg of the IMSA Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup. The duo of Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe put the No. 67 on top of the podium. Roush Yates Engines working in partnership with Ford Performance powered the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team to their third win of the season at Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen International circuit.

“This has been a remarkable weekend,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “I am so proud of the Roush Yates Engines and Ford Performance teams. To take home the NASCAR wins at Daytona International Speedway and now the second IMSA race win on the heels of winning Le Mans is a very humbling moment for our team. I cannot say enough about the Roush Yates Engines’ team, their hard work and dedication producing these race winning engines.”

The twin-turbo Ford EcoBoost V6 race engine performed flawlessly during the six hour endurance race, otherwise known as a six hour sprint. The No. 67 car driven by Westbrook captured the pole with laying down a blistering track record of 1:41.301 on Friday, while teammate Ryan Briscoe welcomed the newest member of his family into the world. The sister car of Joey Hand and Dirk Müller, drivers of the No. 66 were positioned fourth on the starting grid.

As the race started it was evident that it would be another epic battle between Ford, BMW and Corvette. It was evident that the Ford GTs had good pace as they tapped into the power and reliability of the twin-turbo Ford EcoBoost V6 race engine to take over the lead at the 1.39 hour mark, the No. 67 and No. 66 took P1 and P2 respectively. The Fox1 commentators noting that the “Fords ran incredibly strong all weekend with claiming the pole position with Westbrook.”

Setting up for the last pit stop of the race, the No. 67 took a bit of a gamble that would end up paying dividends, as they stayed out while the rest of the field cycled through green light pit stops. As Westbrook brought the No. 67 into the pits for their final stop with 47 minutes to go, the team executed a flawless four tire and fuel pit stop, getting No. 67 out just before the No. 25 BWM rounded the corner. Making it No. 67/P1 and No. 66/P3.
