Allen Johnson Approaches Four in a Row Conclusion with Optimism

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (June 22, 2016) – After an earlier than planned exit at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals last weekend, Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson is ready to get back up on the wheel and take top honors this weekend at the 10th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.

Johnson won the K&N Horsepower Challenge back in 2008 when the bonus race was contested in Norwalk, Ohio before moving to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Johnson also has battled his way to the final round twice in 2010 and 2013 and is ready to seal the deal this weekend at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.

“Our Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing team really likes going to Norwalk,” Johnson said. “We won the K&N Challenge there and we have done well there in the past.”

With the last race in the grueling four-in-a-row, Johnson is looking to end it on a high note.

“We stayed back in Bristol on Monday to figure out why the car isn’t happy right now,” Johnson said in regards to his Dodge Dart’s abrupt move towards the wall in second round of eliminations on Sunday. “We worked on some things during testing to see why the car acts different from one round to the other. I’m looking forward to seeing how it translates on track in Norwalk.”
