Pro Stock Champion Allen Johnson in the Groove for Englishtown

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (June 7, 2016) – The Eastern Swing can present its challenges with four races back-to-back but with a final round appearance just a few days ago at the rain-delayed NHRA New England Nationals, Marathon Petroleum’s Allen Johnson got in an early groove that was exactly what he was hoping for. Johnson plans to take that momentum to the 47th annual NHRA Summernationals this weekend and go one step further than Epping – straight to the winner circle.

“Englishtown is just one of those places for us,” Johnson said. “When I first started racing, Englishtown was one of the Mopar stops on the NHRA tour and as a Mopar sponsored car, it’s a pretty special place in my opinion.”

Old Bridge Township Raceway Park is unique in the fact that it is less than 100 feet above sea level; in prime conditions, the fuel-injected Pro Stock cars should be quick in the cool air temperatures.

“I won this race in 2011 and it’s the kind of track where if it gets cool, it’s gonna be fast,” he added.

Qualifying at the 47th annual NHRA Summernationals begins on Friday, June 10th with two qualifying sessions at 3:45 and 6:15 p.m. (ET). Two more qualifying sessions will be on Saturday, June 11th at 1:45 and 4:15 p.m. (ET). Eliminations will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 12th.

“This track always brings out the best Pro Stock fans,” Johnson declared. “The East Coast is Pro Stock territory!”
