Mid-Race Part Failure Slows Austin Dillon’s Day at
Dover International Speedway

“What a race. This AAA team never gave up today. We were running in the top 15 when something let go in the right front of the car and sent me into the wall. I was having to pump the brakes there the last couple of restarts to get some pressure. I think that was the issue when we got into the wall. It’s just a bummer. I feel bad for this AAA team who have worked hard all weekend. We had a solid car, just a part failure. It’s part of racing and we’ll be back next week. We were able to get back out there and make up some points. I have to thank the AAA tow truck for the extra push to get me restarted on one of the last cautions. They’re always there to get you back out on the road fast.”

Paul Menard and the No. 27 Schrock/Menards Team Survive Late-Race Melee to Finish 11th at Dover International Speedway

“We came a long way this weekend, from practice to the race. I wish we had gotten the chance to qualify this Schrock/Menards Chevy, but that’s ok. The race was a struggle for us. We just could not get going on the restarts and track position is key in Dover. We were pretty good after about 20 laps. We got lucky missing all the wrecks today, especially the big one there near the end. I’ve got to thank Billy (O’Dea, spotter) for navigating me through those wrecked cars and my guys for working hard all weekend.”

Ryan Newman Salvages 16th-Place Finish After Being Collected in Wreck During Closing Laps at Dover International Speedway

“It’s a shame. We got all we could today with our banged up Caterpillar Chevrolet. It is really tore up and was evil to drive after the wreck. What can I say? We had another top-10 car today. We were solid all weekend. We just need to find a way to steer clear of trouble and get the finishes that reflect what we are bringing to the track. I feel like I sound like a broken record. I want to thank my Cat team for working their butts off on pit road for me. It was a real team effort to get back out there. All we can do is keep fighting.”
