NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams made the journey to Dover, Delaware for the JACOB Companies 200 at Dover International Speedway. On Thursday, teams unloaded and participated in two practice sessions. Matt Tifft in the No. 11 Toyota Tundra was third and fourth fastest, while Timothy Peters was 13th and 11th fastest on the board in the No. 17. On Friday, teams returned to the one-mile facility to do battle with rainy weather. Qualifying was rained out, so the field was set per the NASCAR rule book and Tifft started third, while Peters rolled off from 17th. After battling a changing track and handling issues, Tifft finished 12th and Peters 14th.

Matt Tifft Finishes 12th at Dover for Red Horse Racing

After battling changing track conditions in the JACOB Companies 200 at Dover International Speedway, Matt Tifft and the No. 11 Autism Delaware Toyota Tundra team finished in the 12th position. The team unloaded a fast Tundra on Thursday and Tifft posted the third and fourth fastest times in two afternoon practice sessions. Friday arrived with clouds and drizzle and group qualifying was canceled, setting the field per the NASCAR Rule Book, putting Tifft third in the lineup. The green flag dropped under sunny skies, and Tifft reported that the balance was good, but a little tight. Tifft remained in the top five for most of the first half of the race, visiting pit road under caution twice for four Goodyear tires, Sunoco fuel and adjustments. In the final 100 laps, Tifft told crew chief Scott Zipadelli that his Toyota Tundra was a little free in the rear and would wash up the track if he came off the very bottom groove. The team pitted under caution for four tires, fuel and adjustments one final time on lap 135 and Tifft restarted in the eighth position. On the final restart, with 27 laps to go, Tifft restarted in the ninth position, but took the checkered flag in the 12th position.

Matt Tifft Quote:
“I feel like we lost a little bit of roll speed. I think we might have just gone the wrong way on adjustments. It was a lot better in the first half of the race. I’m still really proud of Scott (Zipadelli, crew chief) and these guys, they worked really hard this weekend and we obviously brought a really good Toyota Tundra. And I want to say a big thank you to Autism Delaware for coming on board with us this weekend.”

Timothy Peters Records 14th-Place Finish at Dover

Timothy Peters piloted the No. 17 Toyota Tundra to a 14th-place finish at Dover International Speedway in the JACOB Companies 200. On Thursday in two practice sessions, Peters was 13th and 11th fastest. Qualifying was canceled due to inclement weather, so the field was set per the NASCAR Rule Book by practice speeds and Peters would begin the race in the 17th position. Skies cleared in time for the green flag to wave, but Peters immediately reported a tight condition. Crew chief Shane Huffman brought Peters to pit road under the first caution on lap 44 for four Goodyear tires, Sunoco fuel and a track bar adjustment. Peters pit for adjustments under two subsequent cautions, but continued to battle a tight Toyota Tundra, eventually reporting that he was loose on entry to the corner, but tight on exit. During a caution on lap 80, Huffman again called Peters in for four tires, fuel and major adjustments, but continued to fight the balance on the No. 17. Peters would visit pit road for another four-tire stop on lap 135, and once more for fuel and adjustments under caution, but ultimately finished in the 14th position.

Timothy Peters Quote:
“We were just too tight the whole day, but we didn’t have those balance issues yesterday in practice. Shane (Huffman, crew chief) and the guys worked hard all race and made every adjustment possible to get us better and we wound up 14th. They’ll look at it on Monday and figure out what the difference was and be better for it. The effort is there from everyone on our Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team and I’m looking forward to running up front next Friday at Charlotte (Motor Speedway).”
