SUMMIT RACING TEAM GOES FOR LUCKY #7 AT SPONSOR’S RACE
Line and Wilkerson Return as Defending Event Champions

Mooresville, NC (May 11, 2016)—Team Summit Racing looks for win number seven at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals, May 13-15 at Atlanta Dragway.

This track has been good to Pro Stock drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line. Anderson has won this event four times, and Line twice.

“Atlanta Dragway is one of my favorite tracks. I considered it my home track for 12 years while I was crew chief for Warren Johnson,” said Anderson. “I’ve had a lot of success there.”

Line has been in every final round this season, winning three of those races. The other three were claimed by teammate Anderson. Is he getting tired of facing Anderson in the finals?

“I’m tired of racing Greg and having him win,” joked Line. “As long as one of us wins, it’s all good. Our team is on one heck of a ride right now and I’m enjoying every minute of it. This is the best car I’ve ever had and would love to put it in the winner’s circle again.”

Line returns to the NHRA Southern Nationals as the defending Pro Stock champion and wants to keep that title.

“I am looking forward to having our families and friends from Summit Racing Equipment at the Atlanta race,” said Line. “Taking home a Wally at a Summit sponsored race would be icing on the cake.”

Tim Wilkerson returns as defending champion in Nitro Funny Car. Like his Summit Racing teammates, Wilkerson is enjoying a successful start to the 2016 season.

Currently tied for first in the Nitro Funny Car Championship point standings, Wilkerson comes into the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals with two wins and three final round appearances.

“I’m fortunate to be one of the faster cars out there,” said Wilkerson. “I hope this trend continues. I’m enjoying every minute of it.”

Wilkerson’s Levi, Ray & Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang will have a new look this weekend.

“I just picked up a new body from Murf (McKinney),” said Wilkerson. “The paint scheme is just a little different and has new colors that will make it pop. It looks good.”
