Scelzi Facing World of Outlaws Doubleheader at California Bullrings This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (March 29, 2016) – Dominic Scelzi has logged a lot of laps at a pair of bullrings that will host World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races this weekend.

Scelzi will guide his Roth Motorsports backed entry to Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., for the Ocean Outlaw Showdown presented by Budweiser on Friday before Saturday’s event at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., for the Mini Gold Cup.

“I feel like I have the most confidence I’ve had in the last three years,” he said.

And for good reason. Scelzi has an outstanding track record at Ocean Speedway, where he has captured a top-10 finish during 17 of 19 career races. He scored his first career sprint car win at the quarter-mile oval in 2012 and has a total of nine top-five results there.

“Ocean Speedway is one of my favorite tracks,” he said. “I’ve had great results there in the past. It’s a track that is either really hooked up or really slick and wide. For whatever reason I seem to find a comfort level there. I just have that extra bit of confidence. I have a good idea of what the track will do. I think the locals will have an advantage over the Outlaws at Ocean Speedway this weekend and I hope that benefits our team.”

Scelzi has advanced into a World of Outlaws main event at Silver Dollar Speedway twice during each of the past two seasons.

“I like racing in Chico,” he said. “The past couple of years it’s been one of the raciest tracks. We’ve had a lot of speed there so I’m excited to get there with this newer car. I look forward to racing there.

“I think we’ll be exceptionally strong throughout this weekend. My goal is to drive into the main events and get two top-10 finishes and hopefully another career-best World of Outlaws finish.”

Scelzi is coming off a career-best result with the series on March 18 at the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., where he charged from 18th to eighth.
