Line finding the tune with his Summit Racing Camaro in St. Louis

MADISON, Ill., September 25, 2015 – Friday at the 4th annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals allowed Summit Racing competitor Jason Line to get a good, solid baseline to work from for the rest of the weekend. The driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro gathered good data and also has a strong bank of information to draw from with his teammate, Greg Anderson leading the field.

The groundwork is laid for Line, who is eager to move up in the qualifying order at the second race of six in NHRA’s 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.

In the first round of qualifying, Line wheeled his Summit Racing Camaro to a strong and solid 6.547-second pass at 211.96 mph that was fourth-best of the session, and in the later round, Line recorded an even better 6.528, 211.99. While Line improved, so did the rest of the field, and he ended the day in the No. 8 position.

“We’re off a little on our tune-up, but we definitely think we can get it better tomorrow,” said Line, who has reached two previous final rounds at Gateway Motorsports Park. “The racetrack out there is very good. Gateway Motorsports Park and the NHRA Safety Safari did an excellent job preparing it for this weekend – hence the track record.”

Indeed, track records were broken on Friday in St. Louis, including the Pro Stock record for elapsed time that was previously held by Line and now owned by his Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson.

“I don’t like losing things, certainly not track records, but it’s great that it stayed in the KB Racing camp,” said Line. “Tomorrow is a new day, and we can absolutely improve. It will be faster out there. We haven’t seen low e.t. of the weekend yet.”
