Roush Yates Engines Completes Installation of the Third CNC Machine From Rottler Manufacturing

Mooresville, NC. September 21, 2015 – Roush Yates continues to push the boundaries of innovation in its manufacturing process by partnering with Rottler Manufacturing. This partnership is a winning combination in this very competitive machining environment. Rottler is located in Seattle, Washington and boasts the largest domestic facility dedicated to the various markets which include the automotive aftermarket, aviation, engine builders, and military.

Clarence T. Rottler started Rottler in 1923 as a Boring Bar Company with portable boring bars. Since then the company has been at the forefront of research and development in the CNC machine category specializing in dozens of machines for the automotive aftermarket. They also specialize in the performance engine builder and industrial engine remanufacturing industries.

Roush Yates is now partnering with Rottler and utilizing two H75A honing machines for block honing and a F69A for block machining. The H75A has been specifically developed for performance engine manufacturing. Its state of the art diamond/CBN honing system provides a seamless and reliable process. This machine is able to produce high capacity output with precision calibration. The H75A is able to hone an entire V8 block automatically, allowing the user to step away, improving overall production efficiency by 50%. The precision vertical ball screw along with new custom software allows the operator to set the cross hatch angle and machine will apply the proper stroke speed insuring the exact cross hatch angle from the top of cylinder, to the bottom of cylinder with less than one degree variance! The H75A will also automatically correct taper in any part of the cylinder. The anti- crash protection provides another level of security and reliability in the manufacturing process.

“Rottler is a world class company that is synonymous with leading edge technology,” said Doug Yates, President & CEO of Roush Yates. “Rottler’s unmatched dedication, diversity and innovative product development aligns well with Roush Yates Engines. Rottler has advanced designs and equipment that constantly meets the high demands of engine builders and remanufacturers around the world.”

The H70 Series machines is capable of honing in both clockwise and counter clockwise rotation. Using this reverse rotation process during the finishing of the block resulting in an overall improved bore consistency and quality.

High performance engines such as the solid billet aluminum blocks with ductile liners can precisely be honed to an exact specification and tolerance with the H70 Series. This increases horsepower while reducing blow by in one simple motion.

The two stage roughing and finishing cycle allows higher loads in the roughing cycle for stock removal and light loads for finishing helping improve productivity and accuracy. The hone head has variable speeds from 1-400 RPM for fast stock removal and a slower speed for finishing. The automatic plateau mode is designed to hold the stones at a constant pressure while counting the strokes so each cylinder is held to an exact engineered tolerance. These types of advancements is what makes Roush Yates Engine a world class manufacturing facility.

In addition to improved efficiencies and quality, these machines lead to a smaller overall environmental footprint, reducing downtime for routine maintenance and repair.

“We are excited about the utilization of additional equipment with our partner Roush Yates,” said Andy Rottler President of Rottler Manufacturing. “This partnership puts us into a cutting edge facility to not only prove what we can do, but give us the feedback to continually improve our products. We look forward to our long term relationship with such a professional group of people.”
