Line Makes Gains on Friday in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C., September 18, 2015 – The first race of the 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship is well underway, and with a full day of qualifying behind them, Team Summit is eagerly anticipating getting back to business on day two of the NHRA Carolina Nationals. On the agenda will be protecting the provisional pole – currently in the hands of Summit Racing driver Greg Anderson – and getting Jason Line, driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, in a loftier position. Line is currently No. 6 in the qualifying order.

In the first round of qualifying on a warm but receptive racetrack, Line clocked a 6.584-second pass at 210.54 mph in his KB Racing-powered Camaro to take possession of the No. 6 spot. He came back in the second round with an improved 6.556 at 211.56 and held steady in his position.

“We’re really happy with the red Summit Racing Camaro [driven by teammate Anderson],” said Line, who also noted that the team was very pleased with the performance of KB Racing-powered Bo Butner, who was No. 2 at the end of the first day. “I know my Summit Racing Camaro and [KB Racing-powered] Vincent Nobile’s Chevrolet can run that fast as well, we just haven’t yet. It’s one of those things, but we will be better tomorrow.

“We had some unique issues today, just some crazy kind of stuff, but it happens. This is a good example of a lot of out-of-the-ordinary things that have happened this year, but nothing lasts forever. Tomorrow will be better.”
