Roush Yates Performance Products Engine Builder Spotlight: Tesar Engineering

Mooresville, NC. September 10, 2015 – Mike Tesar began working on engines in 1953 at the age of 13 and started his own engine building business in 1966. Over the last 49 years, Tesar has built a program dedicated to top notch customer service and providing the best product within a customer’s budget.

“I started this company out of my garage in 1966 building engines for local and regional stock cars,” said Tesar, “I never would have thought I would be where I am at today. I’m blessed to have built such a great company with good employees and customers.”

Tesar Engineering has built engines for a wide range of racing applications including dirt late models, ARCA, NASCAR, NHRA, WISSOTA, drag boats and more. He was one of the top builders for the V6, 9:1 compression ASA engines that Dick Trickle and Jim Sauter ran. Tesar Engineering won 7 championships in 2014 in 7 different divisions of racing and won 37 races while setting a new Pikes Peak Road Race record.

In July of 2014, Tesar Engineering become an authorized Roush Yates dirt late model builder and rebuilder. They purchased and built their first RY45 Series for Spencer Diercks, an 18 year old late model standout from Davenport, IA.

“What I really like about the RY45, is how easy the engine is to maintain,” said Tesar, “it is very simple, just check the timing and valve lashes every weekend and use quality filters. Spencer had 1,100 laps on his engine and when we took it apart for a rebuild, it looked brand new. He could have gone 1,500 laps easily before the rebuild.”

Tesar has found the RY45 to have a very linear torque curve resulting in great power, strength and durability. It’s everything Tesar said he wanted in a motor. Something that was simple to build with very little maintenance and produced the necessary horsepower and torque for dirt late model racing.

“The motor delivers amazing power, smoothness and unmatched durability”, said Diercks, “We choose Tesar as our engine builder for his great service and knowledge of racing engines. I’ve never made a better decision in my racing career than purchasing the RY45 from Tesar. So far this year, we have eight top fives and twelve top 10’s and qualified for events with the MARS DIRTcar Series, Corn Belt Clash and Lucas Oil Late Model DIRT Series.

“He is a natural talent behind the wheel of a dirt late model,” said Tesar, “He is patient, calm and most of all smooth. He knows his limits and doesn’t overdrive. He really likes the RY45 for its power and durability.
