Line Efficient on Friday in Seattle, Making Big Plans for Saturday

SEATTLE, Wash., August 7, 2015 – Jason Line and the Summit Racing team have started off on a strong note at the 28th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals, and there is still the opportunity to improve. Line, who now has three Seattle trophies, is laying the groundwork to protect the title that he earned last year at Pacific Raceways. The driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is currently No. 5 in the qualifying order with two more sessions to go before the field is set.

Line’s bright blue Chevy was down the quarter-mile in 6.546-second at 211.89 in the first session of qualifying, sending him initially to the No. 7 position. With great intent, the KB Racing crew came back and picked up significantly, shaving four-hundredths of a second off of their previous elapsed time with a strong and worthy 6.509, 212.06.

“I had it all the way to the floor that time,” joked Line. “But seriously, we didn’t make a very good run the first run, and honestly, the racetrack was a little green for my car. So the second run was much better, and there’s still some left so we know we can be faster. The Pacific Raceways track records were broken here today, and I think you’re going to see your first .40 [6.4-second] run tomorrow.”

Conditions are projected to be somewhat similar in Seattle on Saturday but with an increased possibility of cloud cover. Without the warm sun on the racetrack, Line could very well be correct in his predication. As for whether or not the KB Racing team will be able to put a car on the pole and make that 6.4-second pass, Line believes they have a good shot. Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson reset the track record for speed at 212.76 on Friday in Seattle.

“I can’t speak for my teammate, but I know I’m planning on running .40-something tomorrow,” said Line with a smile. “We have good equipment, we just have to put everything together. I’m excited about the rest of the weekend for our whole KB Racing team.”
