DETROIT (Aug. 6, 2015) – After racing two weeks ago on the shortest track of the season, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R teams head to the longest circuit on the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge schedule: historic Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. The 14-turn, 4.048-mile layout typically produces close racing, which was the case a year ago.

Stevenson Motorsports’ Lawson Aschenbach comes in as defending race-winner and is racing this year with Matt Bell in Stevenson Motorsports’ No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R. In 2014, Aschenbach drove with Eric Curran and won with a last-corner pass on the final lap.

Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis, the GS championship leaders in Stevenson Motorsports’ No. 6 Camaro Z/28.R, finished second at Road America last year. Liddell drove from 16th to second in the final 30 minutes of the race.

“After a fairly chaotic and up-and-down event at Lime Rock Park, we head back to a more traditional venue at Road America with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.Rs,” said Jim Lutz, Chevrolet Program Manager for the Camaro Z.28.R. “It’s an incredibly challenging circuit with long straights that lead to a lot of hard braking zones. Our Camaro Z/28.Rs were very competitive last year. Lawson’s final-turn pass for the win and Robin’s drive through the field late made for exciting racing for the fans at Elkhart Lake. We hope to provide more great racing for them this weekend.”

Three Camaro Z/28.Rs are entered for Road America. Each will attempt to bolster Chevrolet’s lead in the GS Manufacturer standings. Currently, the Bowtie Brand leads by 13 points with 140 points available over the final four events.

In addition to Stevenson Motorsports’ two Camaro Z/28.Rs, Mantella Autosport will field its No. 80 MBRP Camaro Z/28.R for Kyle Marcelli and Martin Barkey. They stand seventh in points and are 19 points out of a top-five championship position.
