Line Set to Race for First Denver Title on Sunday at Mile-High Nationals

DENVER, Colo. (July 25, 2015) – Jason Line is all warmed up and prepared to chase the trophy that has been eluding him for far too long. Line, the driver of the Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, is a 37-time Pro Stock winner but has yet to win at Denver’s Bandimere Speedway. He hopes to change that on raceday at the picturesque facility. With four rounds of qualifying behind him and a very determined team surrounding him, Line has a true shot at the title at the 36th annual Mile-High NHRA Nationals.

Friday’s conditions were optimal and Bandimere Speedway hosted its quickest and fastest passes ever. Line first clocked a 6.909-second pass at 199.43 mph and then improved to a 6.899 at 199.29 – both of which were among the passes to beat the former track records. At the end of the first day of qualifying, Line was No. 7, and that was where he would stay.

On the second day of the event, the weather was warmer and the times were slower across the board. Line was 6.936, 199.40 at the finish line stripe in the first session on Saturday, and in the fourth and final qualifying round, he raced to a 6.910, 199.52 in his blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro.

“We had hoped to have run a little better than we did, but we learned a few things with our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros during qualifying here. Hopefully, we’ll be a little better for tomorrow, but we have a decent car for raceday, so I’m optimistic,” said Line, who will square off with KB Racing teammate Vincent Nobile in the first round of eliminations. The two most recently raced in the first round in Norwalk, where Line got the nod and went on to a semifinals finish.

“I don’t mind racing a teammate – I just don’t like to race them that early in the day,” said Line, who also eliminated Nobile in the first round in Phoenix earlier this year. “It is what it is – we just have to make the best of it.”

Although disappointed to draw a teammate in the first round, Line had nothing but rave reviews for the racing surface at Bandimere Speedway that was the host of record-breaking runs by no less than 10 Pro Stock drivers during qualifying.

“The track was great during qualifying, just as you would expect. The Bandimere family does an outstanding job of promoting the sport of drag racing, and they’re certainly some of the best ambassadors we have out here,” said Line. “It’s just fun to race here, and hopefully tomorrow will be even better for Team Summit. This is a top-notch facility, the racetrack is great, and we would really like to do well on Sunday. I haven’t won here yet, and it’s something I’d really like to do.”
