CAMARO Z/28.R LIME ROCK: Second-Half Push for Chevrolet, Stevenson Motorsports
Manufacturer, Driver, Team championships in GS class down to final five races

DETROIT (July 22, 2015) – The Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R and its teams are halfway through the 2015 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge with five races left in the season. The championship run begins with a three-race stretch during the next five weeks, starting at Lime Rock Park on Saturday.

For Chevrolet, hopes are that the second part of the season is much like the first half, which saw three victories and a 17-point lead in the Grand Sport (GS) Manufacturer standings. The sixth round of 2015 is set for 10 a.m. ET on Saturday.

“The first half of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season went very well for our Camaro Z/28.R teams,” said Jim Lutz, Chevrolet Program Manager for the Camaro Z/28.R. “All our teams have shown good pace and strategy, and that is evident when looking at the manufacturer, driver and team standings. Lime Rock Park offers a unique challenge to the GS field. It’s a short lap that will be very crowded with 40 cars. Six of the seven turns are right-handed. Our Camaro Z/28.Rs are the heaviest cars in the class so tire management and strategy will play key roles in the outcome.”

Stevenson Motorsports’ duo of Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell lead the GS Driver’s championship on the strength of three consecutive victories. Their Stevenson Motorsports No. 6 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R has five podium finishes in as many races, making the Davis/Liddell duo the only tandem to do so in the series.

Matt Bell and Lawson Aschenbach in Stevenson Motorsports No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R stand third in GS points with a runner-up and third-place finish to their credit in five events. Bell placed third in GS last year at Lime Rock for Stevenson Motorsports and second the year before.

Mantella Autosport has two Camaro Z/28.Rs entered for this weekend following the team’s best showing this season two weeks ago at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Anthony Mantella and Mark Wilkins were fifth in the No. 8 Gulf Camaro Z/28.R with Kyle Marcelli and Martin Barkey sixth in the No. 80 MBRP Camaro Z/28.R.

The Camaro Z/28.R won five times during its 2014 debut season. It is based on the road-going Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, and the two share considerable traits:
Engine and displacement (7.0-liter V-8, 427 cubic inches)
Front splitter and rear spoiler with wickerbill
Hood extractor vent
Rockers, wheel-house extension and front tire deflectors
Belly pan
