Scott Bloomquist and Durham Racing Engines Capture
Second Straight Silver Dollar Nationals
Mooresville, NC. July 21, 2015 – Scott Bloomquist and Durham Racing Engines raced their way to their second straight Silver Dollar Nationals win Saturday night at I-80 Speedway with the RY45 Series engine platform. Bloomquist moves to fourth in Lucas Oil Late Model DIRT Series (LOLMDS) points with the win.

“We had a good car all night,” said Bloomquist “Andy Durham builds a great engine and we had a lot of horsepower out there.”

Bloomquist started ninth in the 100 lap A-Main and was quickly up to fourth when a red flag came out. On lap 20, second place Jimmy Owens and third place Bloomquist would come up on a lap car in turn 3. Bloomquist made a power move to the middle lane and passed both coming to the flagstand. The two late model stars would trade the second position back and forth for the next 7 laps with Bloomquist finally taking control of the position on lap 27.

Bloomquist was running the fastest laps of the night around the lap 30 mark and was able to catch race leader Jonathan Davenport and to capture the lead with a pass on the inside on lap 31. Bloomquist would be able to fend off charges by both Davenport and Owens over the next 70 laps to capture the $32,000 win. Jared Landers finished fifth with his Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis with Durham Racing Engines under the hood giving Durham two cars in the top five.

In preliminary action, Bloomquist, Landers and Pearson Jr. all picked up heat race wins on Friday night at I-80 Speedway.

Over the last 2 weeks, Durham Racing Engines powered cars have earned 6 top 5 finishes in four races. Landers also won the Fastest Qualifier award on July 11th at Lucas Oil Speedway. Bloomquist has powered to a win and two second place finishes while passing 37 cars in those three races. Landers has propelled himself to a second and fifth place finish while Pearson Jr. has one fifth place finish back on July 4th. It’s been a tremendous few weeks for engine builder, Andy Durham.

“It’s truly a dream come true,” said Durham, “To have success in this business is remarkable. Hopefully we can win a few more crown jewel races by the end of the year.”

Two Durham Racing Engines powered cars of Earl Pearson Jr., and Bloomquist are third and fourth in LOLMDS points. The series takes a two week break before the $50,000 to win North/South 100 at Florence Speedway August 6-8.
