Summit Racing–Charging Anderson in the Groove for NHRA Summernationals

Charging Anderson in the Groove for NHRA Summernationals

Mooresville, N.C., June 3, 2015 – The days ahead have a bright outlook for the KB Racing team. In the past six races on NHRA’s 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour, Greg Anderson, driver of the red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, has seen the inside of a final round four times and has brought home one win. He is 65 points out of first place as the series makes its yearly stop at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, and Anderson will roll into town for this weekend’s 46th annual NHRA Summernationals as the Pro Stock driver with the most trophies earned at the historic facility.

“I absolutely love Englishtown,” said Anderson, who has won in Englishtown five times and has twice been runner-up, including a final-round finish there last season. He also has four No. 1 qualifier awards at the Northeastern track. “I love going there. It’s a great Pro Stock track, it’s been great for KB Racing, and it’s been great for Greg Anderson. I can’t think of a better place, and I’m excited to get there with a clean slate and hopefully run the table.”

Only three professional NHRA drivers have more wins than Anderson at Raceway Park: nitro pilots Don Prudhomme, Joe Amato and Larry Dixon, who each have six victories earned at the venerable facility. The Pro Stock competitors Anderson has taken down in E-Town form an impressive list: Jeg Coughlin (twice), Darrell Alderman, Dave Connolly, and most recently teammate Jason Line. Their 2012 match marked an all-Summit Racing final-round battle for top honors that also came with a historic nod. It was the 100th win for Ken and Judy Black’s KB Racing and the first win for a Pro Stock driver in the new Chevrolet Camaro.

The 2015 season has already been quite a year for Team Summit. In addition to Anderson’s 75th career win at the NHRA Gatornationals in the third race of the season, Line won at the season-opening Winternationals and the Summit Racing Southern Nationals in Atlanta. One or both of the Mooresville, N.C.-based drivers has reached the final five times this year; twice the duo has run for the money in the final, assuring a victory for Summit Racing.

“We’re definitely on a roll,” said Anderson. “My hot rod is a serious threat every weekend, and that’s all I could ever ask for. I have a chance to win every race we go to, and we’re going to keep trying to get our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros better and better to where we’re the favorite to win with a performance advantage. Our cars are great already, though. We have a chance to win, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year. It’s going to be a tough battle, but we’ll be right there. It’s going to be great.”
