TEAM CHEVY DRIVER POST QUALIFYING QUOTES – RACE NO. 2
MAY 31, 2015

DETROIT (May 31, 2015) – As a result of inclement weather, the 70-lap race No. 2 of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Presented by Quicken Loans field will be set by entrant points as they stand following Saturday’s race number one.

Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya will start in No. 2 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet on pole, with teammate and defending Verizon IndyCar Series champion Will Power, No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet alongside.

It is the eighth consecutive race that Chevrolet IndyCar 2.2 liter V6 drivers have swept the front row.

ABC TV will bring all the action of today’s race live to race fans starting at 3:30 p.m. ET. The INDYCAR Radio Network, Sirius Radio Channel 212 and XM 209 plus IndyCar.com will have the live action as well.

POST QUALIFYING QUOTES:

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, NO. 2 VERIZON TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET: “It is what it is. I felt like we had a really good car in that session. (Scott) Dixon got in the way twice and you guys did nothing about it, so I was surprised. We came in because I was behind and couldn’t pass him and we decided to pit and made a change. At the time we were P1, even with traffic, and when we went back out, we got a red flag, so we couldn’t improve our time. When you’re leading you’re the guinea pig, but it is what it is.”

HOW MUCH WATER IS TOO MUCH? “In the first few laps, you could hold it wide open on the straights, we got back to when do we got dry tires on.”

WILL POWER (No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet): “It’s good to start at the front, especially if it starts wet. It could be very difficult to see if you’re in the back of the pack. I think it will be kind of a mixed up race because I think it will start wet and then dry out, so there will be some mixed up strategies there. Not much to talk about. I only did one lap, but happy to start on the front row.”

ARE YOU CONFIDENT THAT THE TRACK WILL DRAIN WATER ENOUGH THAT THE RACE WON’T BE DELAYED UNTIL MONDAY? “Looking at the weather, it looks like that will be the case. Even if the rain gets a bit lighter, as you saw, there was no problem doing a season. But when we went out the rain got a little bit heavier and it started to have a sheet of water on the track. If the radar is accurate, we should be able to get it in. The amount of water on the track during our session was getting to the point that you couldn’t be wide open on the straights. That is when it becomes a problem.”
