Line Fast in Friday Qualifying at NHRA Gatornationals

GAINESVILLE, Fla., March 13, 2015 – Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line has established himself as a top-half qualifier at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville over the course of his already storied career, and this weekend at the 46th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Nationals, the Mooresville, N.C.-based driver is on course to keep his speedy reputation. Line, piloting the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, is currently in possession of top speed of the meet with his 213.13 mph blast down the quarter-mile. He is No. 5 in the lineup with two more qualifying sessions remaining before the field is set.

Line’s first trip down the racetrack at the Gatornationals produced a 6.532-second pass at 212.83 mph. He returned with a consistent 6.533, 213.13 in the later session.

“We didn’t make the runs that we were hoping to make today, but I think there were a lot of cars that didn’t make the runs they were capable of,” said Line, who has started in the top half in Gainesville in each of his previous 11 appearances at the venerable racetrack. “Tomorrow, the conditions are looking to be about the same so you’re going to have to dig deep to run fast. I think there a few cars that can do it, and I certainly think that Team Summit is among those that can.”

Line and his Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson are fairly matched in their performance so far this weekend, and with Anderson – currently No. 4 in the qualifying order – debuting a new car at the event, Line is pleased.

“Our cars are right together, and I know we can go fast. I think if we can do everything perfect, we can both improve tomorrow. I don’t think it’s going to take major changes to get one of us in that top spot. The devil is in the details; it’s only .02-second between where we are now and No. 1. We can see what went wrong on both of our runs, and if we can just fix those things, we will be very close.”
