Chevrolet Wins Pro Stock Manufacturers Championship

POMONA, Calif. (November 16, 2014): With her victory in the season finale, Erica Enders-Stevens made history today by becoming only the third female driver to win a NHRA Mellow Yellow Drag Racing Series pro championship. Her Elite Motorsports Camaro powered her to six wins, and one runner-up finish this season in pursuit of her first title.

“Congratulations to Erica Enders-Stevens on capturing her first NHRA Pro Stock championship and becoming the first woman in the sport to claim the Pro Stock crown,” said Roger Allen, Chevrolet Racing NHRA Program Manager. “It was a hard-fought battle for her and the Elite Motorsports Camaro team that came right down to the final round of the season finale. This is an amazing accomplishment, making Erica only the third female driver to win a NHRA national title.”

On her way to today’s Pro Stock victory in the Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Enders-Stevens knocked off veteran Larry Morgan in Round One. She went on to best fellow Camaro drivers Roger Brogdon in Round Two and Jonathan Gray in Round Three. Her results set up a winner-take-all final round against the Camaro driven by three-time Pro Stock champion Jason Line.

Line and Enders-Stevens have each won 12 times against the other in prior events and Enders-Stevens is 2 – 1 against Line in prior final rounds. Line was too quick on the tree and turned on the red light. Enders-Stevens then ran the quickest pass of the weekend for the Pro Stock Championship…this is her sixth National event win and her12th career Wally. She is the first woman to win the Pro Stock Championship.
Chevrolet also earned its 20th NHRA Manufacturers’ Cup, dating back to 1966. Enders-Stevens and Line contributed 10 of the 19 wins by Chevrolet Camaro drivers to secure the coveted title. Points are awarded to current-year entries in Funny Car, Pro Stock, Super Stock and Stock. Team Chevy drivers took one win in Stock, and captured 18 wins Pro Stock.
“It is a proud moment for Chevrolet to win its 20th NHRA Manufacturers’ Championship,” Allen stated. “We appreciate all of the Chevrolet Camaro Pro Stock, Super Stock and Stock Eliminator teams and drivers that contributed the points required to win this championship.”
