Defending Champ Line Going for Two in Dallas Double-Header

Mooresville, N.C., September 17, 2014 – This weekend at the 29th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals, Jason Line will be gunning for two trophies instead of one. The driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro won his first-round match last weekend in Charlotte with low e.t. of the meet before the event was delayed to a completion at this weekend’s event at Texas Motorplex, thus setting the stage for the second double-header of the season.

Line, of Mooresville, N.C., won the delayed Brainerd event, which took place during qualifying at the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis.

“There are a couple of ways of looking at this, but for the KB Racing team, our plan is always to make the best of the circumstances,” said Line, the incoming points leader with just six races left to contest before the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock world championship is decided.

“This could be a good thing for our team. It isn’t exactly how I would have chosen to complete the Charlotte race, and it really isn’t how it’s supposed to work, but hopefully it’s going to work in our favor. Dallas has been a good racetrack for Summit Racing, and we’d like to keep it that way.”

Heading into the weekend, Line already has four wins in six final rounds on his 2014 scorecard, as well as two low qualifier awards earned in the last six races. The KB Racing team seems to be on an upswing at just the right time, but to keep on pace they took a day after the Charlotte race to test their Chevrolet Camaros at their local dragstrip.

“I think we learned a couple of things and worked out a few things that were ailing us at Charlotte,” said Line. “The delay of the Charlotte race could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for me.”

Line has two AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals wins on his record, scored in 2011 and 2013 respectively. The significance of riding into Texas as the defending event champ is not lost on Line, a Minnesota native.

“I really like Texas Motorplex and look forward to going there,” said Line. “It goes in streaks, but Texas has been pretty good to me the last few years. This is a huge weekend in terms of points, and it’s exciting. The fans will really get their money’s worth, that’s for sure. I know I look forward to this time of year. It’s what you work for all season long. It’s time to let it happen.”
