JUNE 9, 2017

FT. WORTH: Team Chevy drivers qualified for the Verizon IndyCar Series Rainguard Water Sealers 600K at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday evening as follows:

WILL POWER, NO. 12 VERIZON TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, QUALIFIED 9TH: “We had a good run in qualifying but we needed a little more. We’ll start ninth which isn’t terrible but not ideal either. We still have final practice and are ready to look for more speed. The No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet team and myself have some ideas we’re ready to try. Our cars have been good in the races all season and there’s no reason to think that will change.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Post Qualifying

RYAN NEWMAN, NO. 31 KALAHARI RESORTS & CONVENTIONS CHEVROLET SS met with media and discussed stage racing, the progress of his team, getting a win versus points-racing, rules changes, and more. Full Transcript:

AS A FORMER WINNER AT THIS TRACK, WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO REALLY GET AROUND THE TRICKY TRIANGLE?
“Obviously just having a good balance in all three corners. Probably one of the biggest keys is no matter how good you get through those corners, you have to have the power to pull it down the straightaway. And it seems like at some point some pit strategy and some fuel savings and a little bit of luck has to come your way; but nevertheless, I’ve always enjoyed this race track. I enjoy the area; especially now with Kalahari being built just up the street. It’s a great place for kids and families to go and have some fun when the race track’s not hot.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Pocono–Ryan Newman

TALK ABOUT THE EMOTIONS OF WINNING THE RAIN-PLAGUED RACE AT POCONO LAST YEAR
“Yeah, we needed a jon boat to get back to the hauler afterwards. The garage was about a foot deep (with water). Luckily, I guess the rain all fell in between being in the Media Center and getting done. It was a pretty awesome deal getting that win and having everything play out the way it did. It was a big moment for us. It got us heading toward the Chase for last season and got us into the All-Star race this year to be able to participate there. So, a lot of great things came from it. Everybody keeps asking me how excited I am to get back to Pocono and the probably is it’s not one of the places where we’re as fast as some others, but it is a unique race track. I do love coming here. It’s tough. And it’s hard trying to find just a little bit of speed. The straightaways are so long that one little mistake leads to three or four-tenths at the end of the straightaway. Sol we’ve got tot work hard to be consistent and get the balance rolling good. So far with our Scott Products Chevrolet we’ve been getting it headed in the right direction and I think we’re in good shape to go qualify here.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Pocono–Chris Buescher

TALK ABOUT YOUR GREAT RUN LAST WEEKEND AT DOVER:
“I guess to start the weekend we had a pretty good GEICO Chevy unloading. We kind of kept working on it and chipping away at it getting it to where we thought, just mainly focusing on where I could drive the car hard through the race. We didn’t qualify all that well. Qualifying has probably been our toughest challenge all year just making sure we get good track position. We start anywhere from 20th to 28th every week. It’s just not been our strong suit, but we have raced really well. So, we qualified 21st and we take off in the race and the car is good. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Pocono–Ty Dillon
