ON THE RACE.
“I don’t know that it was a good kind of crazy, but that’s the problem we are in. Proud of the guys on this Caterpillar Chevrolet with RCR and ECR to do what we did. We tried to play it smart and in the end we were close, but not close enough. I got double-teamed with the No. 2 and the No. 22 (Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano). That was the difference.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Talladega–Post Race

Weeks of exhaustive testing finally paying dividends for Pro Stock champ Erica Enders
DALLAS (Oct. 14) — Ever since her Elite Motorsports race team began to experience a performance downturn a few months ago, two-time Pro Stock world champion Erica Enders has been testing the wheels off Richard Freeman’s Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.

It appears all of that extra work, along with some reconfigured parts dreamed up by car builder and crew chief Rick Jones, are paying off big for the 22-time national event winner. Continue reading Weeks of exhaustive testing finally paying dividends for Pro Stock champ Erica Enders

Smiles coming easier for five-time Pro Stock champ Jeg Coughlin Jr. after car upgrade
DALLAS (Oct. 14) — Five-time Pro Stock world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. and his race crew are as excited as they’ve been since mid-May when they raced to the finals of the Menards Heartland Nationals. That’s because prior to this weekend’s 32nd annual AAA Texas NHRA Fallnationals, Coughlin’s JEGS.com/Elite Performance Chevrolet Camaro was modified by car builder Rick Jones and the early results are very promising.

“If the corners are up on my mouth a bit it’s certainly because we’re as close to the front of the pack as we’ve been in quite a while,” Coughlin said. “We’ve been in the top half of the field in all four sessions here and ended up qualified No. 9, which is pretty wild. We started off No. 5, got bumped to sixth, got bumped to eighth and ended up 9th. When you’ve got a tight field like we’ve got this weekend, that can certainly happen. CHASE ELLIOTT QUALIFIES SECOND AT TALLADEGA
Five Team Chevy Drivers to Start in Top-12

TALLADEGA, Ala. (Oct. 14, 2017) – Dale Earnhardt Jr., won the pole position Saturday for the Alabama 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) at Talladega Superspeedway with a fast lap of 50.256 seconds, 190.544 mph in his No. 88 Mountain Dew Chevrolet SS. It marks his 15th career pole in 626 MENCS races, his second pole of the 2017 season and his first pole in 35 races at Talladega.

“Really, all the credit for getting a pole at a place like this goes to the team and goes to the car and the guys that work on it, the engine, the body men; we’ve got an amazing staff back at Charlotte that builds some awesome stuff,” said Earnhardt Jr., a six-time winner at the famed Talladega Superspeedway. “This place has meant a lot to me. It’s awesome to hear those fans happy for us, and hopefully we’re going to give them a lot more to cheer about before this weekend is over.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Talladega–Qualifying

DALE EARNHARDT, JR., NO. 88 MOUNTAIN DEW CHEVROLET SS – Pole Winner
WHAT’S IT LIKE TO GET A POLE ON YOUR FINAL ATTEMPT AT TALLADEGA?
“We got a pole earlier this year at Daytona. We’ve been fighting our teammate, Chase (Elliott) and his group for poles at these tracks for a long time and it’s been a lot of fun to be honest with you, how these two teams have pushed and elevated each other. Really, all the credit for getting a pole at a place like this goes to the team and goes to the car and the guys that work on it, the engine, the body men; we’ve got an amazing staff back at Charlotte that builds some awesome stuff. I just hold the wheel straight and try not to bounce into the apron, but get as close to it as you can and make sure you run a clean lap. But there ain’t much to it as a driver. This place has meant a lot to me. It’s awesome to hear those fans happy for us and hopefully we’re going to give them a lot more to cheer about before this weekend is over.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Talladega–Dale Earnhardt Jr.
