Tyler Reddick and the No. 2 KCMG Team Battle Through
Balance Issues to 10th-Place Finish
“We could never quite get the balance of our No. 2 KCMG Chevrolet Camaro to where we wanted to to be at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend until the very end of the race. We had the speed to contend, we just couldn’t get the handling to be where I needed it to be to run the lines I wanted to. Our car started to handle the best it did all race towards the end of the day. It just needed to be a little bit tighter to run the top lane. Unfortunately, with about 15 laps to go it suddenly felt like something was wrong with our Camaro. It didn’t feel like a loose wheel but more like something was coming apart. I had to slow down the pace we were running to keep it out on the track and not end up wrecking. We luckily had enough of a cushion to stay in the top 10 though the checkered flag. We’ll go back and study what went wrong and regroup at Daytona. A big thanks to all the KCMG guests that we had at the track today.”

TY DILLON, NO. 13 GEICO MILIARTY CAMARO ZL1 Media Breakout Session Highlights:
HOW DO YOU LOOK AT THE RACE THIS WEEKEND?
“I don’t know yet. I think that the track surface is one of the most worn that we’ve been on. It seems rougher than anything we’ve been on yet. Usually here, Charlotte and Kentucky were some of the roughest places, but I’d say this is close to number one now. I think it’s going to be a good race. It seemed like it was a little tough to pass in the heat of the day. I think that the racing groove is wide enough here to have a good race.” Continue reading TEAM CHEVY AT CHICAGOLAND: Ty Dillon Breakout Session Highlights

DANIEL HEMRIC, NO. 8 LIBERTY NATIONAL CAMARO ZL1 Media Breakout Session Highlights:
DO YOU FEEL GOOD IN PARTICULAR ABOUT ANY OF THE TRACKS YOU HAVE COMING UP?
“It’s kind of a double-edge sword. I look at it and a lot of the tracks we go to, I feel confident in what I want and confident in what I need. You try to not lose faith in yourself through moments of struggle. Some of the places we’ve struggled the most at, it can get you down and maybe make you question what you’re doing. On the other side of it, you’ve got to know that you can have success and you just have to get everyone on the same page. Everyone on this 8 Team has been getting closer and closer to getting on the same page as the weeks have went by and that has made for greater success. I’m just trying to be more confident in the things I want and the things I need, as well as deciding as a group how to approach certain things that make a weekend what they are.” Continue reading TEAM CHEVY AT CHICAGOLAND: Daniel Hemric Breakout Session Highlights

NEXT WEEK IS THE FINAL RACE AT DAYTONA THAT IS HELD ON INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND. WHAT DOES THAT WEEKEND MEAN TO YOU AND WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT RACE WEEKEND HAS MEANT TO NASCAR OVER THE YEARS?
“With Daytona being known for its big races, I definitely think it’s going to be something that’s going to be a loss to the racetrack. It’s cool to see all the paint schemes come out for our holiday weekends, especially for the Fourth of July. It’s always been a pretty neat weekend. I don’t think anything is going to lose its flare. With Daytona going to be a cut-off race next year, it will have its own different kind of drama and a whole different look going into the playoffs.” Continue reading TEAM CHEVY AT CHICAGOLAND: Chris Buescher Breakout Session Highlights

Menard Ready To Run For Another Pole At Chicagoland
June 27, 2019
Paul Menard and the No. 21 Menards/FVP Batteries/NRG Energy team showed up with good speed last year at Chicagoland Speedway and earned Menard the pole, the 119th for his Wood Brothers team.
But the notes from that qualifying session won’t be of much use for the team this year in time trials for the Camping World 400. Since that time, NASCAR has adopted a lower horsepower/higher downforce handling package, and the series has scrapped the three-round knockout qualifying format used last year and gone back to a one-car-at-a-time qualifying session. Giovanni Scelzi Powers to Strong Results During Pair of Ohio Sprint Speedweek Starts
Inside Line Promotions – ORRVILLE, Ohio (June 25, 2019) – Rain hampered what was supposed to be a busy week of racing for Giovanni Scelzi, who had planned on competing throughout most of Ohio Sprint Speedweek.
When it was all said and done, Scelzi and the Bernie Stuebgen owned team raced twice during the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions spectacle. While the number of races wasn’t as high as anticipated, Scelzi made the most of his action by finishing second at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio, on June 16 and eighth last Saturday at Wayne County Speedway.
