RCR Post Race Report – New Hampshire 200

Matt Tifft Powers to Fifth-Place Finish in National Brain Tumor Society Chevrolet at New Hampshire

“All season long we have known that we have speed in our Camaro SS, but we have needed to put everything together from practice to qualifying to the race. I feel like we have done that at times this year but then just weren’t able to capitalize on that in the end. We did that this weekend with our National Brain Tumor Society Chevrolet, though. We had great practice sessions on Friday. We missed qualifying a bit with the tightening of the race track in the heat, but we knew that had a good car to work with. Then we were able to capitalize with a great race. We had to make some adjustments in the first two stages, but we got to where we needed to be in Stage 3. We were one of the fastest race cars on the race track by then. I was a bit too tight there at the end to gain anymore spots, but I’m proud of our fifth-place finish today. New Hampshire hasn’t always been very nice to me, but this team worked hard all weekend to bring home a strong finish.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LIME ROCK: Antonio Garcia Pole-Winner Quote

LAKEVILLE, Connecticut (July 21, 2018) – Antonio Garcia captured pole position for today’s Northeast Grand Prix with the fastest lap for a GT car in the history of Lime Rock Park. Garcia lapped the 1.5-mile, seven-turn circuit in 49.754 seconds and averaged 106.652 mph in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R that he will share with Jan Magnussen.

Tommy Milner qualified fourth in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R at 50.048 (106.025 mph). He will team with Oliver Gavin.

Corvette Racing is going for its sixth Lime Rock victory in 12 starts and can capture its 100th triumph in IMSA competition with a win today.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – POLE-WINNER: “It felt really good… fast for sure. This is the first time a GT car has been under 50 seconds here. It’s pretty awesome to be able to run on low fuel and good tires; this afternoon will be completely different. This is the fun part… not taking care of the tires! But the race today will be the complete opposite.”

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT NOW TO HAVE A COMPLETELY CLEAR TRACK FOR THE FIRST SEVERAL LAPS? “We are not used to that! For the first time in awhile, we don’t have cars in front of us. This is definitely the best starting position. We will see how the strategy plays out here. Let’s see how our Corvette is here on a long stint. But we have proven that we are always good on race pace. Let’s hope this is a good sign.”

GOOD IN THE BOOTH AT ELDORA, HOW DID YOU LIKE IT AND WHAT DID YOU LEARN?
“Yeah, I had a lot of fun doing it. I was really nervous. I had never done anything like that, but once we got about halfway through qualifying I was like ‘oh this isn’t too bad it’s pretty fun’ just be relaxed and you can do a good job. It was tough too I was trying to be prepared before the race so watching races back. I have never watched a race and didn’t really pay attention to the race and try to focus on what they were saying in the booth. It was hard to study because it was something totally different than what I was used to. I found myself forgetting to pay attention to what they were saying in the booth and more just watching the race, but we did good, it was fun. I thought (Christopher) Bell did a really good job on pit road. I felt like at the time before I did it I had the tougher job than he did because we would be talking so much in the booth, but once I got in there and you hear the producers in your ear talking and Bell he had to kind of be ready to go and have something to talk about at all times. We would toss it down to him and he wouldn’t even be expecting it and he did a good job with that. It was fun though. Vince (Welch) and Michael (Waltrip) made it easy and hopefully we can do it again next year.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–New Hampshire–Kyle Larson

Baggsy – Goodwood Festival Of Speed – 2018

Last weekend celebrated the 25th anniversary of Goodwood’s Festival Of Speed. Possibly the biggest highlight on the automotive calendar for manufacturers, drivers, enthusiasts and petrol heads alike. The Goodwood estate, situated in West Sussex and the seat of the Duke of Richmond, plays host to a 300,000 plus crowd across four days of motorsport and car culture celebrations. Not to mention the whole event is live streamed worldwide to millions of viewers.

Baggsy returned for his third consecutive year at Festival Of Speed. His weapon of choice, the fire breathing 1200hp #LSXR35. Baggsy was also joined in his rig by fellow Monster Energy athletes, Nicolas Hamilton, Vaughn Gittin JR and Liam Doran.

Baggsy would pilot his V8 swapped R35 up the famous Goodwood hillclimb a total of seven times across the four days. The drift group is a sure favourite of the crowds at FOS, a constant roar of cheers and clapping can be heard throughout the demos. Once the smoke settles the fans surround the cars for pictures and autographs. There is only a handful of drift cars amongst the high end/luxury sports and hyper cars scattered across the lawns of Goodwood, and the crowds love every bit of them.

If you love cars, engines, motorsport and everything in between. Then Festival Of Speed is a must. Every year it gets bigger and better, and even after 25 years it still impresses even the FOS veterans. There is never a quite moment, and we love it!

Baggsy: Goodwood Festival Of Speed is always a highlight of the year for me. To be invited back to take on the hill and celebrate their 25th anniversary is a real honour. The fans and crowds are absolutely amazing, and its great to showcase drifting in such a prestigious environment. It was great to see the #LSXR35 get so much attention in amongst so many super cars and hyper cars, it still makes me laugh seeing the shock on peoples face when they see the size of the Garrett turbo. We had previously made some changes to the GTR, and I’m really happy with how it performed across the event. It certainly ate some rubber and made a lot of smoke during the demos! I would just like to give a big thank you to all my sponsors and the SB Motorsport team for keeping the car running so smoothly. Also a massive thank you to the Duke of Richmond and all the marshals and staff at Goodwood. Without them none of this awesome automotive celebration would be possible. We can’t wait to come back for more!

Havoc’ AA/FA signs off at Dragstalgia 2018 with another victory

2018 Dragstalgia saw the first appearance of the ‘Havoc’ AA/Fuel Altered on UK soil since leaving for the successful 2017 US tour. The reception from the home crowd was quite extraordinary and commented upon by a number of Santa Pod officials as quite unlike anything that they have ever experienced,

The car was entered into the Cannonball Shootout where 10 nostalgia cars, comprising altereds, funny cars and a sole slingshot dragster were to each run 3 qualifying passes, the times being aggregated and the two cars with the lowest aggregate et’s run off for the final on Sunday afternoon. A test pass from Havoc on the Friday test day proved to be less than successful as the car made a hard move right about 300′ out…..

Q1 and we were matched against the newly-imported Chi Town Hustler, driven by previous owner Troy Martin. Troy had issues with the fuel system and idled down the track after the burnout leaving Havoc to make a solo pass. 6.22 at 225mph put us into #1 spot. A position we would not relinquish…..

Q2 on Saturday afternoon paired us with the winner of the last 3 Dragstalgia Cannonballs – Rockin Ramon and his Wild’r at Heart alcohol funny car. Ramon has a very consistent 6.30 car with a Lencodrive and converter and is not to be taken lightly. Havoc runs 6.23 @ 233 to consolidate the #1 spot

Q3 on Sunday morning saw us paired again with Troy and the Chi Town car. Woes continued for the funny car as he was shut down with a fluid leak. Havoc ran 6.21 at a huge 238.91mph – a new PB speed.

So, the final was set for a re-match between us and Ramon. We had lane choice and should have the funny car covered assuming the RT from the transbrake car wasn’t too quick. Both cars left pretty much together, Havoc taking the win with a 6.21 versus Ramon’s 6.41.

Not only did we win the Cannonball, we were also given a trophy for the fastest ET of the meeting and a special award for ‘Moment of the Meeting’ – awarded for the standing ovation the car received from the crowd on its return from the US and victory at the California Hot Rod Reunion.

So, having had the success in the US and now back in the UK with little to race, what can we do for an encore? Not much with this car for the moment is the answer. So the car will get mothballed for a little while whilst we go pro mod racing. I would like to thank each of you for all your support over the last year or so. We couldn’t have done it without you and I hope that I have represented your products well during that time.
