Austin Dillon and the Dow NORKOOL Camaro ZL1 Team Cap Off Strong Bristol Motor Speedway Performance with Top-15 Finish

“Man, we passed a lot of cars tonight in the No. 3 Dow NORKOOL Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. We started at the back of the field and worked our way to the front a couple of times. We went back and forth on handling tonight. It would fire off really well, then go into a little slump in the middle of the run, and then get really good again. Crew Chief Justin Alexander and the team helped the handling in the beginning of the race with chassis adjustments. Towards the middle of the race, the track started to come to us more and I was able to search around for better grip. It seemed like the bottom lane of Turns 1 and 2 and top lane of 3 and 4 worked best for us, and we were able to run in the top 10, and well into the top five, for a while. We took two left side tires on that final pit stop but restarted on the bottom and ultimately got shuffled out of a top-10 run. I’m bummed we didn’t get the finish we deserved, but it was worth the gamble to take two tires at the end. The top lane is just very dominant on restarts. I’m proud of the effort my team put in this week. Darlington is next and we are looking forward to it.”

Ryan Newman and Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Camaro ZL1 Team Reel in 12th-Place Finish at Bristol Motor Speedway

“Our Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Camaro ZL1 had speed this weekend. Unfortunately qualifying didn’t go as planned but I wasn’t too concerned about it because our practices went well. Once the race started we battled tight and loose conditions, but by halfway, we were balanced fairly well. The biggest issue we had was being able to maneuver through all the rubber on the track. Our Chevy either plowed or shook itself loose. I think we’re all looking forward to the off weekend so we can recharge and get ready for Darlington. It’s my favorite race on the Cup schedule and I want to win it for so many reasons. We’ve got to win to get into the Playoffs.”

KYLE LARSON SECURES PLAYOFF POSITION WITH SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT BRISTOL
Chase Elliott gives Team Chevy two out of the top three overall finishing positions

BRISTOL, TENNESSEE (August 18, 2018) – After taking home the victory in Friday night’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson wanted to pilot his No. 42 DC Solar Camaro ZL1 to a weekend sweep, but came up one position shy after 500-miles of beating and banging in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’. Larson’s runner-up finish unofficially locks him into the 2018 NASCAR Playoff’s giving him the opportunity to race for a championship in the final 10 races of the Cup Series season. The run is Larson’s sixth top 10 finish in ten races at Bristol and 13th top 10 of the 2018 season. Continue reading KYLE LARSON SECURES PLAYOFF POSITION WITH SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT BRISTOL

Matt Tifft Earns First Top-10 Finish at Bristol Motor Speedway in No. 2 Nexteer Automotive Chevrolet

“My team worked so hard all weekend long on our No. 2 Nexteer Automotive Chevrolet. We lacked a lot of front turn on Thursday during practice, and we had to make some major changes to it. It handled a lot better during qualifying, which showed when we started fifth, our second top-five starting spot in two weeks. When I fired off for the race, I struggled with no rear grip at all and got shuffled back. Randall (Burnett, crew chief) made the call to pit under the first yellow flag and made major changes to the car. It handled much better after that, and we were able to race in the top five for most of the remaining laps of the race. Unfortunately, on the overtime start I just didn’t have the tires to keep up and fell back a couple spots. It still was a top-10 finish though, and my first one at Bristol, so we’ll take this and continue to build off it.”

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 DC SOLAR CAMARO ZL1 – Pole Winner:
THAT QUALIFYING SESSION WAS REALLY TIGHT
“Yeah, the top 5 was tight. I saw William (Byron) run his .04 there before I went out and I thought man, that’s going to be tough to beat. And, I would have never thought that three other guys would have squeezed in between him and me. That just shows how tough our sport is and our series is. But, our DC Solar Chevy has been really good all day, both in the Xfinity Series and the Cup Series. I felt a little off in first practice, but we got it going good in the second practice and then was fast every round in Qualifying. It’s my favorite track. I have yet to get a win here. We’ve been close so many times. I feel like Kyle (Busch) and I are the two best here, but he always seems to edge me out. Hopefully this weekend is a little different.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Bristol–Qualifying

Race Report : “RAD DAN” BURKETT ROUND 6, Formula Drift [ST. LOUIS, ILLINOIS]

We were thrilled to be at Gateway Motorsports Park, this was a new track introduced into the Formula Drift series just this year. The track layout was intimidating to say the least because of the length and speeds that it allowed for drivers to burn through their tires in no time.

The entertaining layout was made possible thanks to the technology applied to pro competition drift cars nowadays! With the right applications and set ups, we discovered a sweet spot with the Supra. With much patience, the team felt a victory in the knowledge we gained in this round and we only see things moving up from here!

Thank you for your continuous support, we are very excited to work with each of our partners as Dan’s race program continues to grow.

We will make our way to Texas Motor Speedway 1 Month From Now!

YOUR PERFORMANCE LAST WEEK WAS PRETTY GREAT FOR YOU GUYS AS A WHOLE. DO YOU GUYS HAVE MORE OF THAT AND IS THAT THE FIRST OF WHAT YOU WILL SEE FROM YOU GUYS IN THE PLAYOFFS?
“Yeah, you know, obviously that was a big run for our team there at RCR and ECR. Everybody back at the shop has been working really hard to turn the Camaro around for our side of things. We have seen some speed from other guys throughout the year and we have been close. We have had some qualifying runs that were positive, but we weren’t able to relate it to the race. I think last week we proved that we could relate the speed in qualifying to the race and that is huge. Great momentum coming up to some good tracks for us with Bristol, Darlington, finishing with Indy leading into the Playoffs. I definitely think if we carry this speed into the Playoffs we are going to be in a good spot.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Bristol–Austin Dillon

HOW LONG HAD THIS REALLY BEEN GOING ON IN YOUR HEAD? HOW LONG HAD YOU BEEN CONSIDERING MAKING THIS MOVE? HOW HARD WAS IT TO KEEP IT TO YOURSELF?
“It has been on my mind for a while. Truthfully, the last two years at Hendrick and then the year here at LFR (Leavine Family Racing) just like as far as competition, I haven’t been as competitive as what I want to be. So, I would say over the last three, four months it’s started being on my mind, like man, do I need to find other things to do and think of other things to do. I just finally made that decision. But it’s definitely been there for a few months. I would say this year and LFR is working very hard to make improvements even get better from where we are at right now and that was exciting to me. It kept me in it a little bit longer, but then I finally just decided that it is time to do something different. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Bristol–Kasey Kahne
