TOPEKA, Kan. (May 20) – Robert Hight now owns two of the fastest three speeds in NHRA history, as his Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car snared the No. 3 qualifying spot for the NHRA Menards Heartland Nationals.

Hight made two spectacular passes in the three qualifying sessions – one of the four scheduled was canceled because of inclement weather – turning heads with his Chevrolet Camaro SS. His first pass, in Friday’s lone session, was 3.826 seconds at 337.66 mph. That temporarily put him in the No. 1 spot, and the speed was a national record.

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 20) – It took a national record to halt the No. 1 qualifying streak of Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car driver Courtney Force.
Force had earned the No. 1 qualifying spot in each of the last four races and temporarily held the top spot during the final qualifying session for the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals on Saturday at Heartland Park Topeka.
Force’s scintillating pass of 3.815 seconds at 335.23 mph lowered the national elapsed time record, but Matt Hagan went a tick quicker to steal the top spot and move Force back to No. 2. Monster Energy driver Brittany Force sets career-best time, speed in qualifying No. 4 for Heartland Nationals

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 20) – Brittany Force and her Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster team look to not only have solved an ongoing issue with her machine – they’ve put her back in contention for victory in almost an instant.

Force made a career-best pass of 3.674 seconds at 332.43 mph in her third and final qualifying attempt Saturday, which was good enough for the No. 4 qualifying position for Sunday’s NHRA Menards Heartland Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.

The run was two thousandths of a second quicker than her previous best – also set at Topeka last year – and almost a mile per hour faster than her previous best of 331.53 mph – set in 2015 at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa. TOPEKA, Kan. (May 20) – When the adrenaline is pumping and a qualifying spot is on the line, you can count on John Force to put emotions aside and put his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Chevrolet Camaro SS in the field.
It took three tries, but the 16-time NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Funny Car champion drove straight down the drag strip at Heartland Park Topeka and into the No. 6 qualifying position for Sunday’s NHRA Menards Heartland Nationals.

Hight’s first race with John Force Racing as a crew member was here in 1995, and he earned his Funny Car license at the track in 2004.

Force qualified No. 1 at Heartland Park – site of the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals this weekend – in 2014, sharing the honor with sister Brittany Force, who earned the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel.

Force faced an uphill battle all weekend, starting with driving a re-tooled race car. COMMERCE, Ga. (May 7) – John Force ended up seven-thousandths of a second from creating an all-John Force Racing semifinals and a guaranteed trip to final of Sunday’s NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.

The quickest qualifier in the opening session Saturday and the No. 5 qualifier overall, Force fell just a few feet from defeating Ron Capps in the quarterfinals of the race, despite a slightly better reaction time. Force, as well as teammates Courtney Force and Robert Hight, all won their first-round matchups and were pressing for spots in the semifinals. COMMERCE, Ga. (May 7) – Robert Hight set the elapsed-time track record twice in Sunday’s NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway, but he fell in the semifinals to Ron Capps for the second time in three races.

Hight – driving the Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro SS – overpowered Chad Head and John Force Racing teammate Courtney Force in consecutive rounds, with record-setting performances in both. His pass of 3.882 seconds at 328.06 mph against Head reset the mark established earlier in the day by Matt Hagan, by five thousandths of a second. That put head in another matchup against Force, whom he bested two weeks ago at Houston.

COMMERCE, Ga. (May 6) – Brittany Force and her Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster team are more determined than ever to claw their way back to the top, despite a series of misfortune that continued to the NHRA Southern Nationals this weekend at Atlanta Dragway.

After falling in the first round at Charlotte last weekend, Force’s team returned to the John Force Racing shop in Brownsburg, Ind., to work on her dragster. A new front half was constructed and built into the car in an effort to help Force find some consistency. COMMERCE, Ga. (May 6) – Robert Hight will start from the No. 9 qualifying position in Funny Car for Sunday’s 37th-annual NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway, the seventh race on the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule.

Hight – driving the Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro SS – turned in a time of 4.024 seconds at 274.89 mph, in the second of two rounds Saturday afternoon. That effort came despite losing a cylinder a second-and-a-half into the run. Two sessions Friday were canceled because of inclement weather, forcing teams to alter strategy. COMMERCE, Ga. (May 2) – Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster driver Brittany Force is eager to get to Atlanta Dragway for the NHRA Southern Nationals this weekend, ready to drive her re-tooled John Force Racing car.

Her Monster Energy team didn’t casually make its way to the north Georgia area from Charlotte – site of last weekend’s Four-Wide Nationals – this week. Instead, many on her team returned to the team’s shop in Brownsburg, Ind., to work on updates to the chassis of Force’s Monster Energy dragster.

“Atlanta is going to be tough for our guys,” Force said. “They headed back to Indianapolis on Monday morning to ‘front-half’ the car and then get it over to Atlanta for the weekend.
