Fourth Place Finish for ESM Patrón
during TUDOR Championship in Austin
Austin, Texas – Sept 20, 2014 – Extreme Speed Motorsports (ESM) finished fourth in the Lone Star Le Mans on Saturday afternoon at Circuit of the Americas (COTA). In what would be their final TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race of the season, Ed Brown and Johannes van Overbeek, co-drivers of the No. 2 Tequila Patrón Honda Performance Development ARX-03b (HPD) were one spot shy of a podium finish today.

Brown started the race from the fifth position. It took two attempts for a green flag start. At the scheduled race start, the leaders jumped the starter cue and series officials restarted the race. As the field settled into a steady pace, Brown maintained a fifth-place run.

Brown battled the competition and fought hard for his track position during his 33-minute stint. He pitted under green based on the team’s race strategy for a driver change, fuel and tires. When co-driver van Overbeek climbed into the Honda prototype for his stint, he was ranked seventh in the Prototype class.

In typical van Overbeek fashion, he set his focus to the front of the field and began to gain positions. In 71 minutes, approximately 12 laps, van Overbeek reached a race-high of third in class. He maintained a top-five run for the majority of his stint, more than an hour of the race.

In the closing 45 minutes, van Overbeek was hit by at GT-Daytona (GTD) competitor car which caused aerodynamic and body work damage to the back of the No. 2 Tequila Patrón Honda preventing it from running at optimal performance.

Brown and the entire ESM team now changes its focus to the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) and the 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas. Brown will co-drive the No. 30 Tequila Patrón HPD with Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel for the six-hour endurance event.

On Saturday morning, Extreme Speed Motorsports announced its entry into the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Shanghai. The Florida-based team entered both its Tequila Patrón-sponsored HPD prototypes in the LMP2 class for the Nov. 2 race at China’s Shanghai International Circuit. In order to prepare both Tequila Patrón-sponsored HPDs to meet FIA WEC regulations, ESM will not compete in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s season finale – Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in October.

Elkhart Lake, Wisc., – Aug. 9, 2014 – Extreme Speed Motorsports (ESM) earned its second consecutive pole position in TUDOR United SportsCar Championship series today. Extreme Speed Motorsports–ESM Patrón Ready for First Kiss of Indy Bricks

ESM HPDs make Indianapolis debut
STUART, Fla. – July 22, 2014 – The Extreme Speed Motorsports (ESM) makes its Indianapolis debut this week as the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship heads to the hallowed ground of Midwest motorsports – Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). More than 100 years of motorsports history echoes through the track at 16th and Georgetown, and ESM looks to make its mark during Friday’s Brickyard Grand Prix.

Scott Sharp, ESM owner/driver, has 14 Indianapolis 500 starts on his résumé including a pole position in 2001 and five top-10 finishes. In his last four appearances (2005-2007, 2009), Sharp ran a Honda-powered machine. The 2007 season was the first time Sharp drove a Tequila Patrón-sponsored Honda race car. Extreme Speed Motorsports–ESM Patrón Returns to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park: Site of First GT Win

STUART, Fla. – July 8, 2014 – Two years ago at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), a hard-charging Johannes van Overbeek made a late-race pass that put Extreme Speed Motorsports (ESM) in a position to take its first GT class win. It was a memorable day for ESM and Tequila Patrón – and a finish the team would like to repeat this weekend for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix, the seventh round of TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

A few things have changed since that 2012 win: ESM switched to the Honda Performance Development (HPD) ARX-03b racing machines, Ed Brown and van Overbeek co-drive the No. 2 prototype and Ryan Dalziel is co-driver with Scott Sharp. This year, ESM added magicJack as an associate sponsor on the black and green Tequila Patrón-sponsored cars. ESM drivers and crew have downloaded the magicApp to their phones and can now call friends and family and avoid roaming charges this weekend while in Canada.

As a result, ESM can focus on the task at hand – winning.  Sharp, co-driver of the No. 1 Tequila Patrón HPD has six wins at Mosport – three in Trans Am (1992, 1993, 1994), two in prototypes with co-driver David Brabham (2008, 2009), and one GT win (2012) with van Overbeek. Dalziel has two podium finishes at CTMP, one in the PC class and another in GTC. The Scot looks to add an ESM prototype win to that list of achievements.

The daunting 2.459-mile, 10-turn permanent road course will be challenging this weekend with three classes of cars competing. An entry list that includes 12 Prototypes, 19 GT Daytona (GTD) and 10 GT Le Mans (GTLM) race cars will provide an interesting mix in traffic. The ESM Tequila Patrón Honda HPDs should prove their prowess on the fast corners. Patience and managing traffic are two keys to any race, especially this weekend.

Last year, Brown made gains in the Prototype car at CTMP by posting some of his quickest laps ever at the circuit. Now with more than a year of prototype seat time, Brown’s expectations of his race have soared. He and van Overbeek are seeking their second win of the season. The duo last appeared on the podium at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in early May as race winners.

The two-hour, 45-minute TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance on July 11-13 is the seventh race of 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. Qualifying for prototype cars takes place at 6:05 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 12. Green flag is 2:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 13.

Television coverage of the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix starts at 2 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
