Race Highlights:
Brian Scott qualified third for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 and was the highest qualifying Richard Childress Racing entry at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Teammates Ty Dillon, and Brendan Gaughan qualified fourth, and seventh respectively.
RCR teammates Brian Scott, Ty Dillon and Brendan Gaughan finished third, 19th and 20th.
Ty Dillon currently leads the RCR drivers in the Nationwide Series driver point standings in fourth, Brian Scott, fifth and Brendan Gaughan eighth.

Brian Scott Finishes Third at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
The Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was a race to remember, not only for Brian Scott’s third-place finish but for Patient Champion Avery Neely to be a part of the festivities. Lewis Center, Ohio-native, Avery Neely joined the No. 2 Avery Neely / Shore Lodge Chevrolet Camaro for the race-day festivities and warmed the heart of the NASCAR Nationwide Garage. Scott qualified in the third position and would take over the race lead on the first lap. For the next 32 laps, Scott would lead the field around the 2.258-mile road course. In a hard-fought, tradin’ paint battle for the lead, Scott moved into the second position. On lap 58, the Avery Neely / Shore Lodge Chevrolet made an unscheduled pit stop after making contact with another competitor on track causing grass to cover the grille and the water temperature to rise. The Phil Gould-led team, topped off with fuel and would race hard to get back inside the top-10 by lap 62. Scott continued to pick up positions as the laps wound down, ultimately crossing the finish line in the third place. The third-place finish marks Scott’s fourth top-five finish of the season and sixth consecutive top-10 finish.

It was a special race for us to have Avery Neely design our car, and make it to the race for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 and to be our special guest. It was really neat to be a part of and to meet her family. I really wanted to celebrate with them in victory lane, which I guess what makes it all the more heartbreaking. I felt like we were the car to beat, but had to change our pit strategy because of contact with the 22. That chain of events put us behind the guys we were racing at the end to win.”
Ty Dillon Finishes 19th in Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
Ty Dillon drove Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet Camaro to a 19th-place finish Saturday afternoon in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at the 12-turn road course. The 22-year-old driver qualified fourth earlier in the afternoon and raced inside the top-10 for the first 25 laps. Dillon, who was making his Nationwide Series debut at Mid-Ohio, reported that he was losing his power steering on lap five. Crew chief Danny Stockman made the decision to come to pit road, after the team changed four tires, and replace the power steering unit on lap 29. After the fixes were made, the team found itself two laps down so for the remainder of the 90-lap event, Dillon raced for the Lucky Dog position. In the end, Dillon gained back one lap but finished 19th-place, one lap down. He remained fourth in the driver point standings as the Nationwide Series schedule concluded its three road course races of the season. The Series will head back to Bristol Motor Speedway next Friday night.

Brendan Gaughan Finishes 20th at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 Allie Norman / South Point Hotel Camaro qualified seventh for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. After going off-course on lap 37, Gaughan was shuffled back to the 23rd-position. By lap-55 the Richard Childress Racing team had worked its way back to the third position and took over the lead on lap 61. Crew chief Shane Wilson brought Gaughan and the No. 62 Chevrolet in for their final pit stop on lap 69 and the crew got him back on track in the 13th position. With less than 10 laps to go, Gaughan reported that he was pushing water after grass was reported on the grille of the Camaro. The 39-year-old crossed the finish line in the 20th position. Gaughan and the No. 62 Allie Norman / South Point Hotel Chevrolet are eighth in the driver point standings, 22 points behind seventh, heading into next Friday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
