Prepared for the long haul, Line eager to set the tone at NHRA Summernationals

Mooresville, N.C., June 3, 2015 – The 2015 season of NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series is off and running, and this weekend’s 46th annual NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown will be the first of three in a row for the drag racing crowd. To this point, the season has been relatively spread out, but the Summernationals will mark the launch into a summer of racing that includes eight races in the next 10 weeks.

For Jason Line, driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, the key is in the preparation – but also in stepping ever-so-carefully along the path while extracting every last bit of horsepower from the machine.

“It’s tough to prepare for a stretch like this, but you do your best, and we have a great team that consistently works very hard,” said Line, who does more than just drive the racecar – he and teammate Greg Anderson are very active in the KB Racing engine program and log as many hours as their tireless crew.

“You go into these next few races hoping for minimal breakage, because that would set you back drastically and obviously prohibit you from going forward,” Line continued “That’s especially true in Pro Stock, where the gains you make are tiny. If you spend all your time working on fixing things, you’re not spending any time going forward. Thankfully, we’ve got a great partner behind us with Summit Racing, and that helps us always keep moving forward.”

Team Summit is always eager to get to Englishtown for the Summernationals as they have historically performed well at the event. Line dominated at Raceway Park in the first three years of his career, winning back-to-back-to-back. He has two No. 1 qualifier awards earned in Englishtown, and he was in a pivotal final round there in 2012 when he and Anderson raced for the trophy in an all-Summit Racing final round that resulted in his teammate earning the 100th win for KB Racing and first for the newly re-introduced Chevrolet Camaro. In all, the KB Racing crew has accumulated eight Englishtown trophies.

“I really like going to this race,” said Line, who will arrive at the event No. 2 in the Pro Stock points and an achievable 58 marks from the lead spot. “Englishtown is a lot of fun, not just because of our history as a team but also because there are so many Pro Stock fans, and boy those folks in the Northeast are excited. That just makes it more fun for us.

“KB Racing has run well there in years past, and this year we hope to be right back where we’ve been before at this race. The air can be good, and with a high barometer, we tend to run better. All in all, Englishtown is just a great place for us, and one we look forward to visiting each year.”
