TELL US ABOUT THAT RUN FOR YOU.
“It went OK. I’m not really comfortable in the car for some reason. The car is very tricky under braking and it’s easy to lock up the rears or the front. For awhile I was getting more comfortable and then made a mistake and had to give up the lead. In terms of pure pace when you put a lap together, it’s right there with the other guys. But we are simply running with a little bit of inconsistency and you can’t attack the corners. We’re about a second a lap slower than last year, which is a little annoying. We’re in the mix and will keep at it to have a shot at the end when it’s party time.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–Rolex 24 At Daytona

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP
HOW WAS YOUR OPENING COUPLE OF STINTS?
“My stint was OK… nothing special. I would say my second stint was a lot better. We made some tire adjustments and had a much stronger pace – just as strong as the leaders but maybe the leaders although the leader was slightly quicker than I was. Then we decided to double-stint the tires, which at this point in the race wasn’t the right decision. After five to 10 laps, I was a sitting duck for the most part. I just had to finish the stint so we didn’t lose much time. But we have (Sebastien Bourdais) in there on new tires and it’s going well.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–Rolex 24 At Daytona

RICKY TAYLOR, NO. 10 WAYNE TAYLOR RACING CORVETTE DP
TAKE US THROUGH THE EARLY STAGES, HOW DID IT GO?
“We’ve been having incredible electrical issues this weekend, We’ve been without traction control all week as well as wheel speed sensor and other issues. The team has been absolutely thrashing, and last night we thought we had a solution for it. Then we didn’t know until the start of the race that we were about 50/50 as to whether it was going to work or not. I went out for the start, and something felt funny with the throttle pedal. TC (traction control) wasn’t working again, and then we had an additional problem, the engine was cutting out up to a half a second or a second at a time. I was just thinking here we go for the 24 Hour and here we have all of these problems. We just kind of ran around until the fuel window opened and then we pitted. We shut the car off, plugged in the updates from the engine guys and went back out and everything was perfect. So, I’m very happy. Now we have a car we can go race with. We restarted with a bunch of GT cars between us and the leader, We picked our way through some of the prototype field. Felt like we were a lot stronger than the No. 01 other than in the straight. I felt like the Fords were pretty strong. I think we have a really good Corvette to race with now. ” Continue reading Chevy Racing–Rolex 24 At Daytona

Chevy Racing–Jeff Gordon Retirement Announcement

Attributed to Mark Reuss, General Motors executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain

“Jeff Gordon is an incredible competitor, leader and ambassador for Chevrolet and motorsports. He has contributed so much – not only on the track with his 92 wins and four championships, but also away from the track as a businessman, with the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation, and more importantly, as a husband and father. He is a champion, and he has been a great friend. We are proud of our relationship with Jeff, and, just like all of his fans, we look forward to watching him compete for one more championship. We wish Jeff and his family – Ingrid, Ella and Leo – all of the best.”
