DID YOU IMAGINE YOURSELF AS THE POINTS LEADER AT THE HALFWAY POINT OF SEASON?
“Definitely not the way it started out. All the guys who work on this car dug down deep and have pulled out a very good race car for me. I couldn’t be more proud of them. This is all them. We’ve tested and they’ve worked their butts off to get us where we’re at. I can’t be more thankful for the opportunity to race. My grandma and grandpa, Valvoline and Chevy, it’s a dream come true.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NHRA–Norwalk Post Race

JOSEF NEWGARDEN, NO. 1 VERIZON TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, RACE WINNER:
HOW BAD DID YOU WANT THIS ONE JOSEF?
“Really bad. I have wanted to win here since last year. I felt like we had a car that could win then, and it just didn’t happen. This Chevrolet has been a rocket all weekend, but it was not easy. Ryan (Hunter-Reay) was quick and I knew (Scott) Dixon was right behind him, so we were working for it the entire race. These Team Penske guys were the best. They gave me incredible pit stops and I think we nailed the strategy. Tim (Cindric) was coaching me through the whole thing so I kind of knew what I had to do, but it was a lot of work I will be honest with you. Ryan was really pushing me. So just hats off to the whole Team Penske team, I wish we could have all those other guys up here with us, but it’s good to get a win. Doesn’t matter which car gets one, it’s just good to get a win for Team Penske.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Post Race Quotes

Home cooking! Jeg Coughlin Jr. scores first
low qualifier of the year in his native Ohio
NORWALK, Ohio (June 23) — Riding a wave of three straight victories on the NHRA national tour, Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. remains red-hot in his native Buckeye State, scoring his first low qualifier of the year at this weekend’s rain-plagued race in Northwest Ohio.

Trying to run in between a seemingly endless string of showers, Coughlin and his Rickie Jones-led JEGS.com/Elite Performance Chevrolet Camaro crew only had one shot at the newly-paved drag strip, but they made the most of it, running a stout 6.612 at 208.46 mph to lead the factory hot
rod class.

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Menards/Richmond Ford Fusion will roll off in 15th place for Sunday’s 350-kilometer race at Sonoma Raceway.

Menard earned that starting spot in a frenzied qualifying session Saturday afternoon, turning a lap at 93.438 miles per hour.

The opening round of qualifying on a hot afternoon saw Menard and most of the top teams wait until late in the session to make a lap due to an excessive amount of Speedi Dri on the track from an incident prior to qualifying for the Monster Energy Cup Series. YOU GAINED SIX TENTHS FROM ROUND 1 TO ROUND 2. WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU MADE UP THE MOST TIME?
“I think the first round, I just wanted to get a fairly smooth lap in and not make any mistakes to try to get into the Top 12. I felt like I ran a clean lap, but I felt there were areas I could make up some time. A lot in the breaking zones. And I feel like I made up most of my speed in the final round, there. So, it’s cool to get a pole at my own home track here in Sonoma; and DC Solar’s home track as well. Qualifying here is one of my favorite things of the year. So, I’m glad we could pick up a lot of time there and get the pole.” Continue reading Chevy Racign–NASCAR–Sonoma–Qualifying

YOU WON THE POLE AT LAST YEAR’S CUP SERIES RACE HERE AT SONOMA AND THE K&N WEST SERIES RACE HERE IN 2014. HOW ARE YOU FEELING HEADING INTO THIS WEEKEND’S RACE IN YOUR HOME STATE?
“Yeah, with those stats I feel good about qualifying. I always qualify well here. I think we have the track record maybe from ’14 or ’15, so that is pretty cool. The pole here last year was neat. I would like to race well here soon. I don’t know what it is about the race, but I always seem to struggle a little bit. Hopefully, this year is a little bit different and can do a good job and get our team up front.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Sonoma–Kyle Larson

Tim Allison Update

Last weekend we were at Waynesfield Raceway Park with the All Stars Speed Week show and the temps were pushing close to the 100 degree mark. There were about 80 winged cars and the track started out nice and then went down hill and laid rubber and no passing and follow the leader racing, not good for the racer or the fans. We qualified 9th quick and ran 4th in the heat and started 12th in the feature and finished 13th and burnt up 3 new tires 🙁

The week before that we rained out and mother nature won that night. The weather has been a little crazy this year.

The week before that we were at Lima Land Motorsports park for the annual run for the rabbit race. We had all the body panels and wings on our car in tribute to my buddy that passed away 18yrs ago in a motorcycle accident. The track was wide open all night long with not much passing. We qualified 13th quick and ran 5th in our heat race and started 14th in the feature. It went non stop and we finished in the 9th position. We had a good car just started back too far
the race before that we were at Fremont Speedway for an all sprint car show and we had over a 100 sprints on that night, we was fast in practice and when we qualified the driver goofed up and we did not qualify very well, we ran 5th in the heat race and started 14th in the feature and we were super fast and came from 14th to finish 4th in the end and was battling for 2nd and 3rd at the end ,again we had a great car but just started back to far again because of our bad qualifing effort

The race before that we were at Lima Land Motorsports Park and drew toward the end to qualify and did not do well and boy was the track slick dry and dusty, but we ran 4th in the heat and started 11th in the feature and the track the worst anyone had seen in years and was super dry and dusty and could not see very well and finished 13th in the end with no passing with anyone that night

So with that being said, I got most of everything up to date and we need to improve on our qualifying effort so we can get a better starting spot when it comes feature time. This week we are off with no racing and then we have 3 nights of racing coming up.
