Chevrolet drivers well-positioned for wins at Charlotte
Persistent rain postpones race day at zMAX Dragway to October 14

CONCORD, N.C. (October 13, 2019) – Inclement weather forced postponement of all elimination rounds of the NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals until October 14 at zMAX Dragway.

On-track activity will resume at 10 a.m. ET, weather permitting. The weather forecast is for sun with a high of 80 degrees.

Chevrolet drivers in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock are well-positioned to add timely points in the third of six races in the Countdown to the Championship.

Erica Enders earned her third consecutive No. 1 qualifier honor in Pro Stock competition in the Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro SS. The two-time Pro Stock champion, who won the last race, closed to two points of front-runner Jason Line in the title hunt. Line, who won at zMAX Dragway last October in the Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro SS, qualified third and could face Enders in the finals.

“I talk all the time about the peaks and valley of racing, and it looks like we’re peaking at the right time,” Enders said. “We just need to keep it going for the last four races.”

Funny Car points leader Robert Hight qualified second in the Automobile Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro SS, while teammate John Force enters race day as the No. 5 qualifier in the PEAK Coolant & Motor Oil/BluDEF Chevrolet Camaro SS.

“Being the No. 2 qualifier, that’s not a bad place to be. We picked up some of those important bonus points,” said Hight, who entered the weekend 13 points ahead of Force.

Said Force: “Third race into the Countdown and we’re all in there. I said to media on Friday that you have to be like Pac-Man and get all the little points. I didn’t get all of them in qualifying, but I got a few and that’s going to help. Now we have to go some rounds, keep Robert close.”

Brittany Force, driving the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet dragster, was the No. 3 qualifier in Top Fuel. Austin Prock qualified 13th in the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet dragster.
