2017 Honda Civic Si Makes Its Mark in Pirelli World Challenge
• Tom O’Gorman, Shea Holbrook each score TCA class wins
• Honda finishes 2nd in Manufacturers’ Championship
• Shea Racing claims 2nd in TCA team standings; O’Gorman 3rd in Drivers’ Championship

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2017) – A successful debut season for the 2017 Honda Civic Si saw the Shea Racing-led effort score a pair of victories in the TCA class of the Pirelli World Challenge, leading Honda to second in the Manufacturers’ Championship in the competitive category.

Running a full season in the #94 Shea Racing Honda Civic Si, Tom O’Gorman put the new car in Victory Circle in just its fourth race, at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. The CTMP weekend also included a fourth-place finish and fastest race lap in Saturday’s opener of the weekend racing doubleheader, earning O’Gorman the pole for his winning effort on Sunday.

Through the final 10 races in the 12-round championship, O’Gorman only once finished worse than sixth: a 10th-place result in the first of two races at Lime Rock due to a pit stop for a flat tire. In the remaining races, O’Gorman took his Civic to four podium results and four more top-six finishes to finish third in the TCA Drivers’ Championship.

“I’m really excited [to finish third in the championship]” O’Gorman said. “This was the development year for the Civic Si, so our expectations were to prove the reliability, the durability, and the competitiveness of the car. Finishing third in the championship is the cherry on top of that. I’m really excited to see more people running this car in 2018, as it’s the most affordable platform in TCA.”

Unveiling her #67 Honda Civic Si at mid-season, team owner Shea Holbrook put together her own string of impressive results, including a pole and debut win at Utah Motorsports Campus, followed by a quartet of top-six finishes, to boost Honda to second in the TCA Manufacturers’ Championship.

“Being a part of the development of the 2017 Honda Civic Si for TCA has been a true honor,” Holbrook recounted. “Coming from a long history of driving Civics, the 10th generation Civic has been hugely fun to drive. It has shown to be competitive, reliable and fast. Honda continues to show strength in power, even more so than previous generation cars. Having that competitive advantage really helps, especially when the competition is as tough as it is in TCA. The season certainly feels like an overall success, and I look forward to what 2018 has to bring.”
