CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: 18-Hour Race Report
Heading into final six hours, No. 63 Corvette C7.R stays in the mix for GTE Pro victory

LE MANS, France (June 18, 2017) – Corvette Racing’s No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R remains right in the middle of a fierce seven-car battle as the 24 Hours of Le Mans entered its final stages Sunday morning. After hours of fighting back from an early race puncture, the trio of Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor led twice in the third quarter of the endurance classic and entered the final six hours in the top-three of the GTE Pro category.

Taylor was in the car at the 18-hour mark and was part of a three-way tussle for the lead as daylight broke across the 8.5-mile circuit. He, Garcia and Magnussen drove brilliantly to get themselves back on the same pit sequence as the leading cars, the Corvette Racing’s crew and engineering strategy was spot-on – as it has been for the entirety of the race.

Corvette Racing is going for its ninth class victory at Le Mans since 2001.

The No. 64 Corvette C7.R trio of Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler continued fighting up the GTE Pro standings after Milner lost the left-rear wheel on the car late in the race’s opening half. Up until that point – and since then – the No. 64 Corvette has run faultlessly.

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “We are back now in the mix, and we still have a good car. Hopefully we can fight for the win at the end. But there is still some ways to go. We have to stay out of trouble and stay with the lead pack. Right now things are looking good. We’re in it with a shot for sure. That’s all you can ask for.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Our Corvette is running pretty well. It’s pretty well balanced. We’re competitive and have set our cars up well for the end of the race. It’s a shame that we aren’t going to have a major impact on any of the positions. A real positive is how our teammates are fighting for the lead against Aston Martin and Porsche. It looks like they may be able to be right there at the end.”
