Allen Johnson No. 10 After Qualifying at Auto Club NHRA Nationals

POMONA, Calif. (November 12, 2016) – Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson qualified No. 10 after four rounds of qualifying at the 52nd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals.

On Friday, Johnson opened up qualifying in his Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart with a 6.612-second pass at 209.83 mph. He came back in the second session on Friday afternoon and jumped up the ladder when he crossed the finish line with an improved 6.601, 209.14.

In Saturday’s first session, Johnson powered his red, white, and blue Dart to a consistent 6.617, 209.01. He closed out qualifying at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona with a 6.605, 209.17.

“We have a pretty decent car this weekend,” Johnson said. “I just gotta get up on the wheel tomorrow. We did some testing during qualifying and we probably would’ve been a little bit higher on the ladder if we didn’t test but we know we’ve got some more in it for tomorrow.”

Johnson qualified No. 10 and will have a first round matchup against Drew Skillman on Sunday morning.

“Drew is a good driver but like always, I go up there and race myself,” he added. “Most of the time, if I just race me, that’s good enough to turn on those win lights.”
