The final weekend of the 2014 Raider ET Challenge at Maryland International Raceway was a challenging success. After postponing Virginia Motorsports Park’s Autofab Raider ET Series weekend twice due to weather, it was finally rescheduled for this past weekend at MIR. Rain persisted all day on Saturday and at 3pm, race officials decided to cancel Saturday’s race and try to complete Sunday’s race if the weather cooperated. Fortunately, the weather held out on Sunday, and the Raider championships were able to be settled on the track. Like always, the racers were extremely pleased with the entire program. The Raider ET Challenge Series remains the largest bracket program in the region. We thank you whole-heartedly for your support. Without you, this series would not be what it is today.
Kody Mariner from Salisbury, MD took the championship in Jr. Dragster. Kody was looking to win his first Raider ET Series Championship, his second race of the series and a sizeable Pro Purse. He entered the race on Sunday with a 30 point lead, and maintained his lead all the way to the winner’s circle. We are happy to congratulate Kody on his Autofab Racecars Raider ET Challenge championship.
Brian German from Culpeper, Va is the Mod ET Champion this year. He is a first-time Champion in the Raider ET series, and with last year’s champion, Ed Talbert’s loss, Brian German clinched his first Autofab Raider ET Series Mod ET Championship. Brian is the only points champ that didn’t win a race this season, and used consistent deep runs to find himself atop the points list at the end of the season. We are happy to congratulate Brian on his Autofab Racecars Raider ET Challenge championship.
Larry Boswell from Mechanicsville, MD captured the title as Top ET Champion. Larry is a first-time Raider winner, and even though he hadn’t won any Raider races this season, he was consistently making into the quarter, semi and final rounds to create a comfortable points lead. We are happy to congratulate Larry on his Autofab Racecars Raider ET Challenge championship.
