Line Qualified No. 2 in Texas, ready for delayed second round of Carolina Nats

Dallas, Texas, September 19, 2014 – Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line brought his best game to the table for Friday qualifying at the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, and with eliminations for the delayed Carolina Nationals set to continue on Saturday in conjunction with qualifying, Line has set the stage for what could be a very successful day.

In his first blast down the racetrack at Texas Motorplex, Line crossed the finish line with a swift 6.590-second pass at 209.88 mph. His time was the best of the round, placing him all the way in the No. 1 spot by .001-second over KB Racing-powered Vincent Nobile, who clocked a 6.591 for the No. 2 position. Teammate Greg Anderson’s 6.613, 209.33 placed him in the top half of the field, seventh, to cap off a respectable first session for the Summit Racing crew.

“That first run today wasn’t a bad run, but it was a little on the lazy side,” said Line. “It could have been better, but we were certainly pleased to be the quickest car in the first session.”

Although Line upped the pace in the second session and clocked a 6.582 at 210.24, just a tick off of top speed of the meet, he just missed nabbing the pole and ended the day as the provisional No. 2 qualifier. He will race Dave Connolly in the delayed Charlotte second round, which will take place during the opening round of Saturday qualifying.

“We went a little right and it got out of the groove there in the second session today, and the car was not very happy in the middle of the racetrack, but other than that, it was actually a pretty good run,” said Line. “Our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is a good car. Tomorrow, I’m not going to overthink it. I’m just going to go up there and try to have a good reaction time and turn on the win light. That’s my goal.”
